I begin with the last ;)
c)no door pillar plate on my 45, also don`t have such a plate on the BJ43

:hhmm:The VIN plate started here in the US in 1969. Maybe this is just a US thing:meh:

Can`t read anything on my fender plate, it`s terrible srcatched, it´s mounted behind the battery.

Moving the VIN plate to the fender wasn't one of Toyota's better moves. Happened around the time the heater blower starting being mounted on the cowl. Finally moved it back to the cowl in 1978:meh:

I'm in

Mot, thanks for all your work on this deal. I have not responded with any info because my FJ40 definitely did not come with 16" wheels originally. Therefore I figured my information would not be helpful. I am definitely in for one set of 5 wheels if they become available. If a second set could be had for less freight by combining them I would consider depending on cost.

Also, if there are several people interested here in the US, perhaps we could save on some freight by shipping all to one location and then shipping individually from there. If that makes sense, I would be willing to help on this end.

THanks for chiming in, Charles!

Combining shipping would not make any difference (Or shipping all to one place) unless we're shipping them in a container or something.

I can't recall when I shipped to Sean if I had bundled two wheels together to save some (not too much) on shipping. They allow upto 30kgs per package, but I think it was the dimensions that was either close or too large when stacking two wheels together.

I'll have to either ask Sean or if he's still checking in on this thread he might post and let us know.

I guess we can use all this week to see how many are actually ready to pony(sp) up the $$$($) for them so I can put the quantity request down on that stupid sheet!

Assuming the cost isn't too wild, Mot, I'm in for 10 wheels and I really appreciate your staying on top of this. I'd have chimed in w/ info previously but don't know anybody w/ a Japanese market truck.

If I seem asleep at the switch though on anything you think I can help with just shoot me a PM and I'll snap out of it.

Hey thanks for the kind words, guys!

But I would not even be able to attempt to get the remanufacturing request sheet filled out completely if it weren't for Peter providing his vehicle info.

And just so I don't appear like a saint or anything, I would make some $$ off of this transaction, just like I did with Sean's. So you don't need to keep thanking me or anything! :hillbilly:

Anyway, so it sounds like at this point we have:

-ccasteel (5)
-legion (10)

Let's hope this will materialize though, guys!

Mot

Put me down for 5 Mot, it's only money right.

Just an update, well... not much of one!

I've started on a new job, yadda, yadda, yadda... I know!!

Anyway, I was fortunate enough to get another legitimate vehicle info. from an Aussie gentleman via PM.

Armed with that info. as well as Peter's I just tried calling Toyota, but my girl had today off.

I could try another person who works there to do it for me, but I feel my chances are a bit better with her concerning the part's request (Can't say the same about my chances with going out with her. :hillbilly:) so I'll try her on Monday before I leave work (They're only open until 5:15p.m.).

I would like to visit with her in person (I'm a little old-fashioned that way, I guess), but I would never make it in time if I did that. If it appears that for whatever reason I would have to visit her in person the only time I would be able to do it would be on Sat., but I might be out of town next Sat.

Anyway, sorry for the totally unnecessary drama here, but just wanted to keep those of you interested updated.

You guys are not in that big of a hurry, right? :hillbilly:

Thanks for your patience!

Hey...any progress?

are you planning to get the entire rim with the clips to hold the hubcabs? You cannot get the clips from Toyota anymore either.

They have been listet seperatly from the rims in the beginning but then they have been discontinued, later with the J4 they had no own partnumber beeing included in the rim.

I´am working on getting these clips rebuild just now...

And I would be in for 5 of the vintage 5.5 x 16" rims made to carry these hubcabs . Shipping would be to Germany.

Would it help to mobilize more / commercial consumers?

Sönke,

Yeah, this has been in the back of my mind for the last couple of weeks!!

I did return to Toyota about two weeks ago and talked to the gal. She told me that I needed more/info. which I have been meaning to investigate a bit more, possibly by contacting some of you via PM, but It's been a bit hectic for me with new work, etc... Yeah, I know, I'm L-A-M-A!!!

I don't need any of you guys telling me that I have a busy life, take care of business/family, etc... but I need to set my priorities straight!! :hillbilly:

That said, I promise you that I have not forgotten about you guys and hope that I will be able to come through!

Sorry to have been letting you down so far, guys!!

Mot

You didn't take her flowers and candy did you.

How are you supposed to get on her good side if you don't sweeten this deal a tad.

But seriously, does it look promising or not, what do you still need?

Curious if this has moved ahead any more Mot?

May move on to a different rim. Seems 4-Runners ran a rim like the 70 series did, a stock spoke design like a 60 series rim, 16x6, should be correct backspacing. I have found this rim presumably listed as reconditioned and about half price to the dealer pricing on some rim sites. So I may persue it soon.

Sorry guys for not having kept you updated and more importantly not having done anything with it.

I will stop making any promises until I know something more definitively, but will let you know when I am able to do more. :frown:

Sorry guys!!!

Hey, life happens, it happens to all of us. Be well.

After a multi month pause... any thoughts on this even happening?
