The new powder coat is like having new wheels, they hold up well to everything but rock rash.

That will brush out- but, with all those big rocks at RC, Im thinking wider tires are smarter to protect the wheels a bit. Too bad we can't go lower than 17" rims with the GX brake size just to get taller sidewalls.

You got to watch going to wide of a tire with stock rims your tires will rub on the upper control arms.

Spacers will get you away from the UCA but into the body mount.
Different wheels and adjustable UCAs is the ticket.
Is this where offset comes into play as well?

Yes, a positive offset will help. That being said, I’m running a 17x8.5 0 offset wheel, 285-70-17s, SPC UCAs, no UCA rub, no body mount rub. Thinking about bumping up to a 295 or 305 when it’s time to replace my current tires.

295 or 305 sound awesome... how are road manners? And snow?

Road manners are great but it’s all relative. The GX feels much more planted and stable with the same suspension setup than it did with the FJ.
Snow is fine, tires are getting a little long in the tooth so I’m sure I’ll slip a little more this winter.
It is a pic thread.. last spring before sliders but you can see how well the 285 w/ a 8.5 wheel fills out the fender.
