Hrmmm, you've seemed to open up a conundrum with the last pic and your avatar. "Choose wisely"

Mil-spec lasers don't design, run, or fix themselves. Gotta be sensitive to minute details.

Bummer. Glad family is ok. I'm sure it scared everyone. Damage doesn't look terrible and no radiator leakage is a good sign that the frame may be ok...meaning it wasn't too hard of a hit. Looks like definitely a new front hood, quarter panel, bumper, and headlight assembly. Don't run the AC as some of those lines are likely ruptured. My guess is repairable.

Did you at least take the backstraps??

No, and in hindsight it really bothers me that I didn’t. What’s even worse about this is that I’m a Wildlife Ecologist 🥴 Although, I don’t think there was much salvageable meat after I hit it, because within 2 minutes of the collision 2 other cars and an 18 wheeler ran it over...DPS and I drug what pieces were left off the road.

Just seeing your cute little girl by your side illustrates how blessed you are. It also illustrates why driving a Land Cruiser vs. a Honda Civic or the like can save your life.
Without any doubt! We have another girl on the way, too. While riding home on the flatbed, my wife said the 100 was a tank and she thinks that we should sell our other vehicles to buy another Land Cruiser or two 😁

Sorry to hear the crap news, but glad everybody is happy, healthy and home. You'll figure out the rest.

Ouch. On long road trips I try to get off the road before dusk if at all possible. Sure, it takes me a little longer but I've had enough close calls (and one deer hit me).

beautiful 40 - and the right color, too

Sounds like you married a smart wife

Deer and elk are another reason I'm thinking about moving to a full bull bar. You're very fortunate the elk was driven down and away not over the hood.

Very grateful you and your family are safe

Might have been a bit too tender after the 18 wheeler. Probably not safe either to try to salvage meat on the side of a busy road at night.

I wonder what a bumper would have done in terms of preventing damage. It looks like the headlight and front quarter absorbed a lot of energy. With a bumper, there probably would have been less visible damage, but a more forceful impact to the frame and anyone inside the truck.

If you keep the 100 (since you need new headlights anyway), definitely go with an HID retrofit. I can almost light up the opposite end of a small valley with my high beams and have spotted elk and cattle at least a mile out on the road a few times, allowing plenty of time to slow down. Obviously this will only help if they are on or near the road, the "darters" lurking in tall brush out of sight are more unpredictable.

Problem solved. Buy a 200 for the new family hauler and make the 100 the dedicated trail rig...even if it gets insurance totaled and you have to buy it back.

sorry to read about the bad news on the truck. Glad the fam is OK.

Venison steaks, though, right? :)

I had similar thoughts almost immediately after the collision. According to engineer @Somebodyelse5 ”Something something load path, something something,” would make frame damage more probable in such a collision if one had an aftermarket bumper/bull bar. 😂 Whatever that means.

Wow! Thanks a ton for putting this together. I intended to do this, but just haven’t had time today. The inner fender support, both upper and lower radiator supports, and the headlight support are damaged as well...

Yep those are the most expensive new parts. They arent worth much on a 100 being parted out however, so see if someone that has one being parted would be willing to cut.
