I have all the Toyota/Lexus manuals I need now. The end goal is to have everything perform as stock with the addition of 4 more gears / much greater spread between those gears. I have ATRAC on my 2000 so if possible I’d like to keep it but we’ll see where we end up.

Shipping on the HF2A adapter is still showing Monday for now but all I’m going to be able to do with it is an unboxing video and maybe figuring out where it might mount to the cross member

Got the adapter plate and input axle today.

Behold my Youtube thumbnail. Video still processing.
I was thinking though. I know the 80 series and 100 series HF2A cases have different input axles. There is a separate axle and gear on the 80 series and the 100 series has the axle and gear as one piece. I'm wondering if you could just buy the stock high range gear and install that on the adapter axle that you get from domiworks? I'm guessing the meshing of the gears is different which is why it's not advertised as a thing right now and part of why I didn't just buy the adapter first and instead went to find a 80 series HF2A that I'm trying to swap the CDL actuator and VSS.

I reached out to @cruiseroutfit and I got about a month or so until the HF2A 91-92 rebuild kit is back in stock. That gives me time to finish the preventative/corrective maintenance I need to do.

Ignore the trans being flipped upside down from the tear down

Idk if the transmission is happy to see me or what

I got some hardware in the box but I’ll probably end up picking up some of the bolts for the transfer case off TPN or something

I knew I had some more info about this. So good news/bad news. There IS a LC100 HF2A bmw adapter kit. Bad news is that it’s relatively expensive at €1600=almost $1900. Shipped to the US it comes out as almost $2k.
Kit includes:
Gear
Adaptor plate
New oem bearings
New oem seal
Crossmember plate
Rubbers
Bolts.
IMG_7197.webp

For me that was a tad too high as I couldn’t stomach dropping $2k all at once before customs fees. With the 3F 80 series HF2A I have spent about $1700 to adapt the bmw case to my transmission. Some possible good news that I would need @TrailBornRunner to verify is you should be able to run the domiworks adapter if you have done a high range underdrive kit on your 100 series case.

I would still recommend if you’re going to do this swap that you refresh the bearings and seals inside the case since you need to split it anyway to install either shaft.

@Papa Wickey I'm contemplating hard on taking apart my transfer case and doing the swap, it's one month away from cruise moab and still no word on the adapter. Emailing Domiworks later this week to get an update. But im 99.9% sure the underdrive gear will slip right on, and if you were using the factory ratio gears, I would believe the 80 gear would mesh just fine with the 100 gears.

Is this the Wink 4x4 guy?

EDIT: Didn't realize Wink was diesels only.

I am not sure. I emailed a Remy at wink4x4.
Most Euro 100s are diesel, the Aussies have gas and diesel 100s though.
Hey some thing you need to start to consider is how your going to mount your transfer case gear selector. I had to drill and tap two holes on top of my domiworks adapter to mount a plate to mount my shifter too. Just something to keep in your mind while you advance. I didn’t think about it until after everything was installed

He should add another layer of complication and make it all push button like you see in honda odyssey's / pilots

I am tracking that. I have the idea of what I'm trying to do with potentially using some of the rear bosses on the trans to mount a plate to attach the shifter to and I might need an extension on the shift shaft as well but my data is coming from another mudder's swap in an 80 where the shifter is more rearward than the 100

Not sure where I stole this from, but going to replicate it pretty much identically

I like seeing a shorter transfer case adapter. Papa Wickey, could you maybe provide the actual length of the trans from bell housing to rear of trans were the housing bolts too?

I am considering this swap for one of my two cruisers. I have an 80 with 400ish hp 1FZ, and built a 442F that holding the power 2-3-4 but at max take off has a weak 1-2 shift , at 5 psi of less boost 1-2 is fine. I am considering a 8HP swap but length is my issue with my extended range gas tank.

The A343 with some mods can handle the power and I could remove it from my 100 as your doing and put it in my 80 Haltech controlled, as my 442 is now.

If I willing to send my nomad valve body to Australia Whoesale say they can fix my 1-2 shift with their extreme valve body and will update my nomad.

An 8 speed has my attention…. The redo shafts and movement of crossmember relocation doesn’t thrill me.

I forgot my 80 have a viscus coupler “aka ABS brakes” and the transfer case is longer than in my 100’s version. I just realized this as I am typing and a non viscus coupled transfer case would help in the length issue in my 80!

The 80 and the 100 as very similar, the 80 has a gear presses on the input shaft, the 100 the gear is made to the shaft.

I ran into this doing a 10% reduction gear set in my 100. Have to change that input shaft like you’re about to do. To change the idler gear to change the given gear in main output to change the overall reduction.

My 100 transfer case has an 80 shaft in it now. Because of the underdrive gear set.

Thanks guys for making this happen.

I am watching closely and hopefully learn from the group.

Yes the top plate mount another 100 series guy did. Removed a A343 and put a Dodge 8HP75 I think it was from a ram pickup. He was working with Domni on a two peice transfer case adapter. He says needed to clock it to have better access to fill plug on side of transmission if I remember. He used that flat plate to mount his low Hi shifter.

With this thicker transfer case adapter moves the back of the transfer case nearly 3 inches when adding the engine adapter to install a 8HP. Something a little over 2.8 inches.

take care

@obe12 Since I stare at mine all day at the shop on the stand here are the measurements with the Domiworks adapter bolted up; A343F 27.625" vs N63 8hp70 w/adapter 27.1875". The 2uz engine adapter is advertised as 0.787" (20mm), so to add that to the calculation, the 8hp setup with adapters will only be 0.35" (about 3/8") longer than the stock trans, which is negligible. I've moved my motor and trans rearward a little over an inch to clear the front axle without any modification, other than the obvious motor mounts.

Side note, I have a feeling on my 80 series, I might be looking for a 10r80 transmission after this 8hp swap. If I knew adapters were somewhat available, I probably would have gone that route for the "105". But that trans would be much longer and wound require me to use a 100 tcase to clear the gas tank.

This tape measure here in this pic, that’s reading 27 1/4 inches … appears to be behind a 2UZ engine , is that the 343F from bell house to where to the front edge of the Transfer case, Perhaps ?

“Moving the engine and trans 1 inch back” , did you install a 2UZ - A343F engine trans in a 105 straight front axle cruiser perhaps ? Trying to grasp why move the engine trans back an inch? Or Straight front axle swap into a 100?

My extended range 37-38 gal long range gas tank in my 80 is close to rear crossmember now.

It came to me today that I have a longer case transfer case than what’s in my 100 because of the VC “Vicious coupler”.

My 100 has a large slee skid plate that is my rear crossmember all in one. My 100 is supercharged and has heeders, with 3 inch exhaust. The cross over runs behind and down around the rear drive line flange and is tight between the dive line flange and slew bumper now. To move the any back would require exhaust crossover mods. The stock exhaust ran up over the drive line.

This is a will there is a way.

I have a solid axle swapped 100 with a 9.5" front diff, so I had clearance issues on the oil pan to keep the truck low.

And yes that a 2uz/a343f, the measurements are Bellhousing mounting surface to tcase mounting surface. That picture kind of sucks, i didn't take it straight on, but it's 27 3/16.
