Are anyone else's tires doing this? The actual carcass where the tread lugs are molded from are separating and cracking like this. I've never had a tire that wasn't exceptionally old or dry rotted from age do this. This set is maybe two and a half years old, roughly 20k miles and was a replacement for a bad batch from when the k02's first came out.

This is occurring on all four tires across the whole tread pattern.

Just seeing if anyone else's tires are doing this.

Thanks.

Approximately 2.5 years as mentioned.

Edit, gotcha, 15th week of 2016.

I know, I was one of the first people on here to get my original set replaced under warranty. Those were mostly isolated to the tread lugs themselves cracking throughout not the actual carcass in this case. But I'm sure they'll be covered under something similar.

I've got a little of the same thing happening with my Ko2's- they are about 16months old maybe 13k miles. But I had to use a magnifying glass to look down into the corners of the tread to see it. I run about 35-38psi (prob low for an E rated tire with my truck weighing 5950 lbs.)

Hmm. Mine are clearly visible from about 12" away with no visual aids.

That tire pressure is what I run also based on contact patch, and my tread wear is even across the surface. Even though I'm sure if you called bfg and spoke to a customer service "specialist" they would tell you 50psi or some ridiculous amount that will ride like crap unless your towing another 5k lbs.

If you don't want to run them according to manufacturer's speculations, probably should not have gotten an E load rated tire. I run 41-45 in mine, year and a half old, and they look brand new, no cracking The Tacoma folks hate KO2s, because they won't run them at the proper inflation. Then they are pissed off when the tires won't stay balanced, because they've been overheated from running without enough air

Please enlighten me with the manufacturer's inflation specifications. I was purely speculating on a typical uninformed phone center worker that make minimum wage and reads scripts. Pretty sure the sidewall says to not exceed 80 psi.

When I'm towing my 1965 Cutlass, or 16' car trailer full of un-split oak, I inflate the tires in 60 to 65lbs region.

Your tire PSI should be based some where in the vicinity of the vehicle manufacturer and what provides a correct contact patch.

All the KO's and KO2's I've seen crack like that. Next time get the Yokohama's with the Orange Oil and never see a crack again! :flipoff2:

There is another thread here somewhere, someone talked to an actual BFG rep, who said something like 50psi?

KO2s are the worst AT tire I've ever run. On my pick ups and 4Runners. Why the world loves them is beyond me.

Toyo AT2s.

I didn't know what I was missing.

Thought I'd give them a try and know what you mean.

The one big plus though is they are exceptionally quiet but don't like the water planing.

This thread reminded me to take a close look at them tomorrow.

just got ko2's 3 weeks ago at discount tire.... they looked up details and recommended 35lbs front, 45lbs rear......

I love 'em because they're one of, if not the, strongest AT tire for its noise level on the highway. My last set made it to nearly 60k miles before I changed tires and only started making noise the last 5k miles. No cupping, no weird tread wear and tons of off-road abuse.
