Sounds like an interesting story Bomar.

I've been thinking about trying to modify a 60 or 62 front grill to go on my 100. Has anyone see that done or think it is doable? I guess I could try to do a mesh grill with just the Toyota symbol but I prefer the stock looking bars. I can't figure out how to just cover up the sombrero logo. Anybody have a measurement or could measure their 60/62 grill?

Unless I'm mistaken, the 60 series grille is flat; the one you pictured is contoured.

There's no way you are going to make it work.

I think your best bet would be to carefully remove/grind down the sombrero emblem and cover it up with a 62's emblem.

There's a guy here on MUD that's doing 3D printing and some CNC aluminum emblems. I bet he could crank out something for you, if that doesn't work out.

Thanks man. That is the look I am looking for, except minus the painted billet grill. I may end up having to go that route. I was wanting to cut down a 60 grill but supposedly the 100 grill is wider so it won't work. I will remove the sombrero and see how much of the 60 logo covers it up. I may end up cutting a black rubber backing to the logo to add some additional coverage if it doesn't cover enough.

The 60 emblem came in the mail today so I started playing with it. I really like the size, I just need to figure out how to mount it. I'm thinking about using some black wire or zip ties so i won't have to permanently attach it with glue. I will have to grind off the mounting tabs on the back to mount it flush.

The first picture is just wire tied not centered up and down to visualize the look.

The second pick is what it would look like at pretty much centered and covering as much of the sombrero backing as possible. You can still see some of it unfortunately but I'm not sure you would really notice it when mounted. The only real option to prevent that is to replace the grill with a billet grill or mesh. Let me know if anyone has an extra early 100 grill I can experiment on.

The point when you realize you've been spending too much time in the CLC clubhouse. Reading along and I get to here and just have to stop and turn off the internet's for the night...

I really like the size, I just need to figure out how to mount it.
