How tall is that bad boy?
20150724_220305.webp it has some slope to it so 10.5 is max height

No way I wanted to know that in 120 degree weather. It would have been scary.

A/C was still cooling. When that goes south I start worrying.

I found back in my rock crawling/always overheating days it was best to rest the truck with it running to keep everything flowing past the fan

I think idle is one of the worst thinkgs to do when a vehicle is overheating, especially with AC running.

Rob- Is my leak in the water pump area?
I know you pressurized the cooling system when you filled it with the cool gadget...

Looks like thermostat housing or the coolant hose going to the throttle body that sits above it. Can you take another pick and zoom out a bit.

I will pull off the air intake and take one.
I had to add a half gallon of collant today. Reservoir was empty and radiator was down some.

Pics of the can carrier as I was taking fuel to the boat. A well made setup as stated before. I added a bicycle chain lock from my hardware store to try and keep thieves away.
The ladder functionality suffers with this tray and finding a good size cooler to fit has been a challenge.

It was not overheating it was super hot.

I'm no expert but when I used to have gauges and sensors hooked to every fluid for and after the tranny and motor it cooled much better at idle than it did when I s*** it off (for short periods of time)

Mlemaa

For hot/overheating, leaving at idle with heater on full blast is the best way to cool it down. Shut down will result in a higher peak temp before it cools down.

I just had memories of sitting in dallas traffic as a kid. My dad would get pissed about idling and the car getting hotter. He would turn the heater on and smoke cigarettes on 100 degree weather.

Once traffic started moving the temp would drop and the smoke would clear.

Andy- iPhone can't use the torque app but I'm sure apple has something although maybe not $5 or less like torque pro

Correct me if I'm wrong on this but....

Even at 120* with the a/c cranked in slow speed stuff (4 high working it) the needle never budged (I know they are not true gauges) but the a/c blew cold.

Mine has auto temp. Analog. I kept it on 75 and the fan stayed auto HIGH but if I dialed it up to 80 the fan dropped to low. That tells me the a/c was doing a 30-40 degree differential in the cabin.

The only side effect was the gas smell. I never saw any reason to crank the heat.

I did turn off a/c when I was actually worrying over the temperatures and I let it idle.

Either way, as Scott Brady said in his article on best expo vehicles. The 100 will take a beating in the desert. I'm so sold.

@jasonbraswell I'm sure I missed it somewhere, but what can rack is that? And did the ratchet strap come with it? I need some straps like that.

It's a Slee Offroad product. Straps included. I've never seen this type of strap before. Call them and they may tell you a source of supply.

The straps look like kind used inside Tractor Trailer channels- E track or something like that….?

So damn hot outside so I just pulled air intake from throttle boys.
(I could not see any leaking hoses so it looks to be in the area where these parts mate up)

Brake squeal is gone. Was drivers side rear. As soon as I opened it up I saw the issue. Pad wasn't seated just right. Sanded it down and now whisper quiet.
One thing about working on these toyotas... it seems like everything fits like a glove. If it has a hint of not fitting right, you know it quick. Not sure that makes sense but it's seems obvious everytime I take anything apart.

Maybe the big 3 parts are like that but I don't think so based on memories of my chevy days.

Rob- any news from you on the above?
I am going to watch coolant level closely and temp with the torq app. I'll bring it by your shop on the 10th next month if that works.
