Toyota Land Cruiser, '99, 1 owner. In great condition. Silver $11,900.
206000K, no locker, silver, super clean

Even super clean that's a 9K truck, isn't it? It's time for timing and a water pump.

That's a lot of hopefully 93 octane miles on a 1999. Ask Christo -- it matters.

You know, I tried to talk about that in the 100 forum and I got shot down hard on the 93 octane on 99's debate.

Christo told me that the timing is different in 99 (same as 99 Tundra trucks) and that high octane fuel is essential.

Just looked at it fmi. It was super clean. Owner decided to keep it, so I invited him to CLC.

I'm going to have to check in to a solution for that fading side trim problem they all seem to have.

You might try Rhino Shine Ultra.

Rhino Linings

I've never used it to restore the shine of bed liner but I have used it on other plastic-based products with good success.

Another solution: get it dirty. :D

I would not say "perfect" but nice in that it does not have the expensive-if-it-fails nav. That said, it seems only my year, 2004, has a high incident of failure. :(

No way I would recommend buying a 200K 100 for $10,000

You can find the same truck with 120-150K on it for the same money.

Also, you should plan on spending just a bit more to get the right truck.

I think if you raised your number to $14,000 you will get a much more reliable, low mileage truck.

I agree with this. No way I would buy a 100 with that high of miles for that money.

There is an 03 with 135K miles on it in the buying selling section of the 100 forum. Page 62 that the guy has lowered to 14K I believe it is in NY though. Still a damn good price in my opinion. Has sliders and GY Duratracs on it....I don't know how to link links...sorry :bang:

I also think the 2001-2003 has a high rate of tranny failure. Mine has been rock solid and I went almost 60k before a drain and fill. That was before mud.

I don't think it is a high rate in the real world. Mainly, if you have tranny failure and are web savvy you search info about it and then find IH8MUD.

I read a few of those threads and it is amazing how many are just one/two time posters.

I would not at all be scared of tranny failure if you have any decent history on the truck.

I agree nolen. In fact, it's my observation that many consider the '98 to '00 year models to be most prone to have tranny failure https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series...ners-your-transmission-original-replaced.html

Funny, I just ran across the dealer in memphis that I bought my 62 from way back when.

1999 Toyota Land Cruiser 4x4 $13,990 - E-Z Auto, Inc. Memphis Tennessee 38128

Black out them wheels. Sig line will read:

Greg Thompson
99 UZJ100 - "Night Night"

I'm not interested in that one at all, just thought it was funny to see same dealer. My 2nd gen black 4runner is the last black car I'll have.

White, silver, some light color. There is a color similar to my 62 that I like a lot, as well a light blue. I haven't sorted through and found the color names.

I know I'm in the minority here but I think that spruce green color is pretty cool. There is a light blue one in belhaven that I like a lot too.

The reason the 100 series is set up like a stinkbug with the rear so high is because the rear springs SUCK with any load :D

I towed my big trailer the other day from Lenny's and got a major squat, but that thing is a monster so I expected that.

I towed my 14' 4 wheeler trailer with my wife's bad ass pink golf cart today and got a major squat too. I am sure if I had not cranked my front torsion bars to level it, it would have been level though.

Anyway, with 112,000 miles, I have decided to replace the shocks with Bilstein's all around like Martin did and add Air Lift 1000 bags. $357.16 for everything. I don't want any more lift and I think the springs are OK, they are just not really set up for towing.

I ran these bags in my 1996 FZJ-80 and they work AWESOME for $85.00.

Maybe Leonard will have free space on his lift one day, that would make the shock install a snap.

Martin, can I borrow your 7/8 ratchet that we used on yours?

Here is where I got the shocks ($272.00):

Thanks for the 22mm Spivey. There is no way to do this job without it (other than cutting a hole in the body)

My airbags did not come in but I decided to get the shocks on. All I will have to do is pull the bottom shock bolt when they come in to install them.

Very easy install, I was not wearing gloves on the first rear top bolt and when it let go, I cut the HELL out of my hand. Painful spot too.

I hammered a Phillips head screwdriver into the shock bodies to hold them in place while I wrenched the top bolts. You are all in once you do this, but it really makes the job easier.

The ride is stiffer and I can feel the little bumps a bit more. That said, it handles much better and does not have the floaty feeling that it had with the clapped out stock shocks.

Side by side, I was able to easily hand-compress the stock shocks but even with all my 175# weight, I could not get the Bilsteins to compress.

Very good $280 upgrade for a truck with this many miles.

Next up is the airbag install.

When I take it in for my tire rotation, Chris is going to do an Amsoil Transmission flush for me. They have a machine at 49 Tire that does it.

You can also see in the shock picture that I put some hose clamps on my front CV boots. I have had a weep since I cranked the torsion bars. I hate those CV boot bands, I can never get them right. If this does not work, I will take it in to a CV shop to get the boots pulled and a repack.
