How convenient this thread popped up. I was trying to research cargo carriers for some trips this summer. But they’re literally all out of stock for 2 months. Nothing on Facebook marketplace either.
Ask some friends - found a buddy who is loaning me one for our upcoming vacation.

Attached to the factory roof rack, I only keep our clothes and items I need locked up in the cargo box.

Sears 20-SV ~ also some model Thule. Got it used on CL ~ turned out to be listed by an old friend  .

Love it - holds a ton of stuff:
6 interlocking 2x2 mats on the bottom
3 banana boxes down the middle
Sleeping bags on top of boxes
EzUp type screenhouse on the right
3 camp chairs on the left
sleeping pads across the front
stakes, hammer, propane, random stuff at the back

Anyone ever installed a box on a Rhino Pioneer Platform? Just bought a used Thule box for cheap but it’s setup for attachment to cross bars.

A friend has a Thule mounted to his Front Runner, which I think would mount about the same as the Rhino?

In its natural habitat, at the grocery.
I ended up using the cross bars from my factory rack. I drilled a hole in the end of each bar and can quickly mount it to the platform.

I originally bought a Yakima 21 but it do not fit on a stock rack with a spoiler. The 18 fits perfectly. However, there is a lot of movement/flex of the box even with the mounts spread as far as possible. I hope some 80/20 bars fix this.

I love and dislike the box at the same time. I noticed a 2mpg drop on road trips and most parking garages are a no-go. But the benefit of getting all the cargo out of the cabin is huge in case of an accident, tire change, or just simple organization.

Used Thule 1600 I got a couple years ago. Usually lives on my outback.

Thule Motion XT Alpine on a Prinsu rack. There’s a tiny amount of overhang on the front, and the spoiler barely nudges the Alpine on the back. But it’s low profile and carries my skis!

Looks fantastic. And it clears the rear spoiler!

Does anyone have any experience with the Pelican Cargo series with their roof setup? If so what did you use? These are all fantastic. Makes a decision that much more difficult.

Do you have to remove any of the crossbars on the prinsu? Most of these carriers have recessed areas for the mounts, and the middle of the box ends up sagging below the level of the bars.

The box was technically able to sit atop all bars when I first tried it. Removing two bars allowed the box to sit closer to the roof by an inch or so, which is the way I have it there in the pic. So far no issues on long drives or higher speeds.

Very nice! But I believe 1650 is the protector series. Pelican came out with cargo series a couple of years ago with Front Runner and made Toyota-specific mounts for their racks and the bed mounts have also been repurposed to work with other racks as well. My rig is a slick top currently and I have some of the cargo series boxes. They are hands down the best outdoor cases and keep my tools from rusting or being stolen. That being said they do occupy quite a bit of interior room when transporting. Thanks for this your rig has given me some inspiration.

I thought about getting one of their cargo cases a few years back but when I realized they require the mounting brackets to be permanently fixed to your roof rack, I changed my mind. I guess if your 100 sits outside and you don't have garage clearance issues, then this is a non issue but for me i didnt wanna mess with removing and securing the brackets each time I needed to have a cargo box up on the roof.
