Trying to plan a pre-GSMTR trail ride up at my place on May 13th. Start at my place and venture back onto the Duke Power right-of-way that backs up to my property. All are welcome.

I am about 2 miles west of the 4-way stop in Holly Springs, on Highway 11.

I will be there with several other FLCA members who are also UC members. (Guilty by association)

Gundy, what's your opinion on getting to the powerlines from my place? Are we in violation of any tresspass laws??

Capt'n, you back up to the powerlines. I see no problems. If we see a
a No Trespassing sign.....we turn around. I think that line can take you
to Pumpkintown. I'M IN ! :grinpimp:
I have GPS plot for your place and mine so we should have some sense
of where we will be headed. :)

Cool. If we can blaze a trail back there between your house and mine, I can avoid all that traffic congestion in Pumpkintown when I come to visit.:grinpimp:

slowin' down to smell the roses

Oh yeah, getting behind farmer Brown and his hay truck or the
local loggers can be a drag. :)
LOL...It's a 10 minute drive so maybe via powerlines we can make
it a 30 minute crawl.......yeah Baby!

we'd have to cross through mountain estates to get to your place david, would we not??

Powerlines ain't ME. We will not cross those owners' land as far as I can tell.
Going where none have gone before is exploring. It may be gated and posted for all I know.
I'm game to check it out. Provided I can get up Capt'n's driveway. :grinpimp:
It ain't a club event anyway. hehe...this one's for the outlaws, ne'er do wells,
scallawags and pirates.....Arghhhhhhhhh......flying the Jolly Roger and looking
for good surf. :flamingo: LOL.....I also know a good bondsman. :bounce:

Got a mapquest-able address for me to get a ballpark on driving time? I've got an "Iron Butt (Award)", but shallow pockets, though hopefully I'll be able to make it.

Just PM'd ya.

Capt, the only problem I see with heading towards P-town...... is crossing 178; the line directly behind your house comes out at the Holy springs ELementry school. I have seen the trail on the powerline there, the problem would be getting past the school itself. Also if we head west on the powerlines we should be able to go a good bit futher. I have been looking at old USGS maps to get an idea of where we will be going and I will print them out for reference sat. Also there are all kinds of old trials cutting thru that area, so it should be fun. I am very much looking forward to it, nothing like some exploring!!

See you guys Sat.

oh yeah what time do we need to be there Capt?

I'm game to go either direction down the powerlines. I have a topo of the area, as well as a delorme's map book. We are planning on leaving FLA thursday evening and arriving about noon or earlier on frioday. Will take us a day to recoup from the drive so it won't be too early come saturday. How do you guys look as far as time? Perhaps if we plan to show up at my place between 9-10 AM and hit the trails shortly thereafter. All are welcome to stop by anytime. We leave for GSMTR sunday AM.

Post up with time suggestions. I can do earlier thann 9 on saturday if need be.

Not that it matters, but my vote is for later than 9. 10 or after would be better for me. :D

yeah waht about more around 11 to noonish.......... I will be most likely driving up from North Augusta in the windshieldless 40, and will take me close to 4hrs to get to your place

so no need to meet early for me :D

That's sounds good to me. We will still have plenty to do. 11-12 noonish it is. Straight from the events co-ordinator.

BTW, wear your welders helmet with a clear lens when you drive up and you won't miss that windshield at all. :flipoff2:

You have that plexi-glass or anything fabbed up to cover that windshield space??

What is your route from there? Highway 25N?

If you get to Greenville and need some relief on the last leg, I can trade rigs with you. It might convince you to buy the 100 anyways! :D

yeah I am going to rig up some plexi to cover atleast the driverside......... the ski gogles in getting old :doh;

I will be coming up 28 through anderson, I won't be any where near G'vegas, thanks for the offer though......... plus it is Mary ellyn I/you need to sell on the 100 series....... are you really selling it?
