:(CCOT Center Lock Console Like Tuffy

Today I pulled on my Center Console on my FJ40 that was locked, and it opened up. I did it from the sitting position with my backhand. I was super Pissed. Then I look at what is the locking devise and I'm disappointed by it.

This is the key side. It is shaped in a "S" shape. Why is it not a "U" shape? Or boxed for strength. Or "O" Shaped so it won't bend and let the other side slip by.

This is the other side which i think could be a little thicker

Is this the same as the Real Tuffy console? Anyone else have/had this problem?

The Tuffy is waay more stout than that. Sorry:frown:!!!

Tuffy Security Products are not made anything like that, and would not do that.

260.00us??? And it does that?

Thank you for the heads-up on this product.

I guess this is another example of "you get what you pay for"

I'm so pissed. I'm so stupid for keep ordering from them.

I'm not a veteran mudder, but on this site, I have read far more complaints about CCOT than praise. It'd be interesting to have a CCOT thread and keep score.

I am sorry to hear of another unsatisfied customer of CC of Taiwan. I need to remind myself of this anytime I consider buying something from them again. I have said it before and I will say it again..........

Everything I have ever bought from them has turned out to be a compromise. Based on my experience with the junk they sell, I'd really like to see one of their complete trucks up close. All this from the self-proclaimed "Nation's Foremost Restorer of Toyota Land Cruisers"

So far, the college credit for this learning experience is still cheap bud.

At least you found out about it like this, instead of thinking that it was a secure box and locking things in it, only to have it emptied out for you by some ass hole.

The Tuffy units are significantly thicker metal and have a far superior locking mechanism.

Here are some pics...the lock only locks the real lock, if you know what I mean. Sure some gorilla with a wrecking bar can either deform it or otherwise breach it, but not with his hands.

Holy cow! Thanks for the photos guys. What a difference. I emailed ccot telling them I was very disappointed, I hope they will email me back.

Interesting that at some point they switched the locking mechanism from bottom to top or vice versa. Mine is about 5 years old, I'll bet John Smith's is newer.
CCOT is kinda the WalterMart of cruiser parts and accessories. Looks the same, but it soooo much cheaper;)

I bought mine on evilbay for <$200 shipped.
