great read. would love to see some video of the engine running, to hear it

@redd: I will get a video of it running and hopefully moving tomorrow.

@GLTHFJ60: You're welcome! It's an awesome cable and I'm happy I used it rather than the van one.

So today I got in a hurry to move it under it's own power and just tacked on the rear perches and well, starting :steer: down the driveway and hit the brakes and the rear pumpkin spun, dropped the shaft and ground into the concrete some :( Seemed like I dropped anchor on the drive :bang:. I think it is ok but the slip doesn't go in nearly as easily so I may need a new shaft end at some point. love those life lessons..Will get pics up tomorrow from this.

Anyways, my tcase flange is at 90deg, so per Trent, I set the rear axle flange at 90deg too. I thought they were supposed to point to each other. So I went ahead tonight (after pushing it back in the shop) and tig welded the perches on completely. I have no concerns about those perches moving now.

Anything worthwhile is worth doing twice, huh? Seems like the story of this build lol.

rear perches

So to try and tig in weird situations and spaces make you a better tig welder. So I tig welded the rear perches. I think they came out ok.. they won't be coming off now.

I also put a video up on it running/moving . It definitely sounds louder thanks to the cell phone mic. I will try and use different equipment and get a more accurate sound representation of the 4bt. And maybe get my wife to film it..

IT LIVES!!!

Good work man, now get that front clip together so you can go for a real ride :D

Where did you get your bio safe fuel lines from?

remote oil

I'll have to go check on what line it is but I actually got it from O'reilly.. They had some in stock.

I also installed an amsoil remote oil kit. Crappy location since it hangs too low but I didn't have enough AN8 hose, need to get some more and eventually come back and locate it possibly on the other side of the rail by the fuel lines tucked up under.
Pics! Oh and if anyone has an idea what that hose on the lower water neck is for on a dodge, I can't figure it out.. figured I'd just plug it *shrug*

Thanks for posting more pics. Any more details on that Amsoil remote kit you used? I need to do something like that, too. I have zero room to remove/install the oil filter.

I will look and see which kit it is. I think bmk23 and the cummins head adapter. I actually bought two, so I have an extra with lines and everything. I got it used so much cheaper than new from amsoil. If you want it, IM me and we can work something out. I'm really glad I got it. However I may be moving it since it hangs a little too low for comfort.

Got a question, hopefully someone will have the answer to it. It has been a long time since I took the radiator off, just put it on and can't for the life of me find what looks right.. The bolt/washer/bushing that goes through the core support in the middle of the radiator (behind where the ac condenser is.. Here is a pic of what I need, hope someone has a picture of it or knows where I can get..

If someone can show me what goes there, I'd be most grateful!

I did get the front sorta on, minus the radiator buttoned up.

Gigety!

I want a remote pimp filter set for my truck...

This should be the Toyota part number for those radiator mount bushings. They list for $2.17 each and you need two, one for each side:

91651‑60830

Keep up the good work!

Thanks GLTHFJ60! That's perfect! I ordered them today, will be there for me tomorrow. Hopefully I can use any bolts or maybe I can find the ones that go in there. Funny part is I bagged and tagged everything as I took it apart.. accept I can't find anything for the radiator :crybaby:

I started looking for radiator hoses today. That took a long time and only got 1/2 way there. Made templates from wire and labeled the inlet size on each and headed to the parts house for something close. Scored a perfect upper radiator hose, since I'm using the dodge upper and lower water necks, the upper is 1.75" and the lower is 2.25". The upper is perfect with a ~7" piece cut off left... Except I will have to sleeve the radiator outlet by 0.25"

But the one I can't seem to find is the lower hose. Even went to check the stock at 2 stores. The killer is the lower water neck goes straight out, perpendicular to the passenger frame. And finding a hose that won't have a kink with that 90deg turn off and fitting from the 2.25" water outlet to the 1.5" 60's radiator is a pain :bang: Maybe tomorrow will be more fruitful.

Will get some pictures in the morning, my phone kept acting up and rebooting each time I tried to take a picture ;(

I also ordered more t-bolt clamps. Had plenty of 2.5" ones but needed some 2.0" ones for the aftercooler silicon. Hate worm clamps.. Probably will order some for the radiator too.

No worries man! Do me a favor and post up the part numbers for the radiator hoses as I'm using the dodge necks as well.

Thank you sir!

You are over complicating the radiator hoses... i think the wire was a good idea but they aint gotta be perfect. It is rubber they stretch and flex. So if it doesn't match it will flex and if its a tad to small it will stretch.

What side is the lower radiator port on? I'll check to see what my 80 has and hopefully have a part number for you.

Dave, the lower radiator port is passenger-side.

Today was a busy day with work so I didn't get much time to think about the cruiser :(

So tonight I ended up getting a gates green stripe flex hose for the lower. Dang those are expensive.. Spent $50 on that one hose. Maybe I can find something molded that fits better. Just didn't want to get held up on hunting a hose down.

Dave: if you have one on your 80 that works, let me know and I'll try to track one down.

Got my t-bolts in and I ordered the wrong size :bang: so I'll have plenty of t-bolt stock. Ordering some 2.25" ones tonight, using worm clamps for now. I need to cap off the dodge npt connections on the water necks (should have done that sooner when it was easier to get to :) )

Here are some pics of what it looks like..
