With most of the BOD still closing the books on GSMTR, we are shifting some dates around for the next couple events.

The July monthly meeting will not be the first Saturday of this month (as it typically is) because of the holiday weekend. We hope to have it later this month and are still working out the details for something special.

Over The Mountain Tour (OTMT) is being held over to sometime in November, details later.

Super HAMOM: August 20-21 Will be held at Hard40's garage off Highway 11 (up the street from Aunt Sue's). Bring your own tools, parts and flip-flops and we will help you with your project, if we can. We should have power and air available. Bring extension cords, if you got them. In the past we have done suspension lifts, axle rebuilds, bumper installs, etc...Alan is going to let us camp on his property and we will probably grill-out for dinner.

If you need some wheel time before then, the Lowcountry Land Cruisers are going to Uwharrie on July 30 - Aug 1. More details here:

The Upstate Cruisers Annual Event will be pushed back to Sept 4th and should be a great gathering of the whole membership to show off their rigs and have a good time. This is just a day trip gathering at Aunt Sue's off Hwy 11 - a beautiful stretch of highway through the highlands of SC.

Yeah we can't hang with Aug. We need to take Jim Barkley Toyota up on their invite so Annual goes to Sept.

Are we gonna do OTMT at windrock again? I want to go this time, now that my vehicle is capable of handling such terrain...

I believe that is the plan..... I am hoping to make it as well as it looked like a great place to do some wheeling

An axle rebuild class sounds great. My knuckles are starting to leak a bit. I'm also thinking of a cut-n-turn...will be kinda hard to drive my Pig there balancing on the back axle! :D

Yep I've got two axles that need rebuilding. The 40 needs to have the bells ground out and the Newfields installed and the 80 needs new birfields as well as a front axle rebuild.

I have most of the parts but maybe we could do another group buy with ACC or Kurt?

SUPER HAMOM--AXLE REBUILD weekend is on! It will be at the Hardin residence Friday and Saturday Aug. 20-21. I'll start a new thread so we can make sure everyone has what they need.

sorry to thread jack but how hard is it to do the knuckle rebuild?

I have all new seals/bearings from marlin crawler but they have been collecting dust in the box for a year next month.

I'm planning on replacing them some time in early/mid fall when the weather cools down a bit and the shop slows down, maybe i can spend a day at it without being disturbed with mower repairs.

I've only helped with one rebuild before but it wasn't too hard, just messy and long. I'm coming to the HAMOM but I'm not doing my rebuild til this winter after a cut n turn.

If you have a FSM or some one who has done it before it is a walk in the park..... however like Steve said it takes a few hours and is messy but don't worry it is far from rocket science you just need a little patience.....

OTMT is being held over until November. Details to follow in the coming weeks.

Strike this: We need to hear from y'all if you still want to go to Windrock. Only two people have shown interest, so it's not really shaping up to be a big showing. If no one else posts up, then we will not make any group reservations and those that want to go can make their own camping arrangements.

so i'm not an UC member....but i do have a shackle rebuild that i need to do...

Would you guys let me come along for the day so i can get some pointers (let me know what special tools i need)...i have most basic stuff but i run a lawn mower shop...not a 4x4 shop so i have no specialty tools. I've read about some sort of driver to remove bearing races (i usually use a large tire tool/screwdriver/punch to do this) and a seal driver (i usually use a proper sized socket for this, fabbed up a flat pulley with center out of it to drive in rear pinion seal)

or if someone lets me borrow some specialty tools :)

i do have a small air compressor i can bring

also...if everyone wants to bring thier small engine stuff (lawn mowers/chainsaws/etc) i'll gladly work on what i'm good at in exchange for people helping me out with what i'm unfamiliar with. So bring your belts/new blades/carb kits/etc and i can rebuild/install and maybe with a little help even shade tree your equipment back in to working order!

For only $15 you can become a member instantly. These type events are for members only - its one of the perks of Upstate Cruisers membership. If you don't want to do it online then you can contact our Prez or Veep [boombapslappy or jleefj62] and bring your dues to the event.

I plan on showing up even though i probably won't be rebuilding anything. Figured i could hang out and learn somethin. Gonna need details on how to get to harbin residence though.
