Have owned this '97 LX450 for the past 5 years.
The most obvious is a nicely done Cummins 6BT. This is a pretty fast 80 and does 0-60 in about 11 seconds. It will cruise at 70, 80, 90, NO PROBLEM.
Transmission is fresh and has a custom lower stall torque converter.
Engine has an aftermarket...
Going wheeling this weekend and asked CJMOON to get me one... Apparently, he already installed one on mine:cool:. I crawled under and took a look. It's a d@mn nice bit of steel under there. As all the pics show, the quality is there, the fit is there and it's easy to service the rest of the...
Well if that's the case, I owe you one! Have not ran into them yet, but I know a certain someone local to me that would be up for a low stall 343 TC as well!
On the 45psi, I was pretty arrogant with boost for a while. I'd let it run 45psi to get up to highway speed and then let things cool back down. As you imply, that was never a place to just sit there and leave it for too long.
I tend to cruise at 10-12 and then probably average 20psi to...
Have quite a few miles on the setup now... On a cool day, the TC Lock can't hold until the trans temps are up a bit. The shifts are always consistent. Trans is pretty fresh on the rebuild. As long as I allow the trans to warm up before feeding it the beans, I haven't really worried about it and...
Oh for sure. a stock 6BT won't run anything like that...
Nothing fancy though. Just the standard springs and screw adjustments to push the fueling up higher.
It's just a plain 'ol VE pumped motor with a 2nd gen dodge wastegated turbo and about $90 worth of springs and pin on the pump... 3"...
Put the LX on the dyno today... 215whp and 450wtq... assuming a 25% driveline loss with the big tires, etc, etc.... something like 280hp and 600tq as a factory would advertise (BHP)....
ya'll sure there isn't a modular way to pull the dash out of it? Pretty much every assembly line vehicle since the 70s has a modular dash. Now the trick to most of these cars is know how the assembly line installed the dash assembly. A friend here at the shop found on a car he was working on...
My glorious cruiser has the battery drain issue...
My door fuse seems to be responsible for the majority of the drain at 100+ma... Did some searching, but missing the easy button post where it lists what's all on the door fuse circuit, albeit plenty of door fuse threads.
Anyone have such a...
sorry about that cleaned it up for clarity moving forward. if you have his kit it will make since every one else can ignore and i've been meaning to start this post for a few months to document and save is on my follow list for future reference.
posted out of a little frustration last night...
This thread is not to be about issues of delivery. Only documenting replacement parts fixes for issues and documenting the different versions of his adapter system over the years.
Lets accumulate part numbers and applications of parts used for reference. If there are question marks after...
There is none. Doubt there ever will be or a customer that would be willing to pay for it.
Best bet is to build yourself or buy from someone that did it right and is just ready to move on.
As car builder myself the dollars required to build one correctly and make it economically viable for the...
