    Builds Alaskan Cruiser build

I have that black and white seat... I think it came out of scout 800 originally. Got it from a buddies ranch that had an old border patrol scout as a hunting vehicle. I added some square tubing and angle iron to each side to use it in a fj40 since it was narrower. hth, Will

    Fj40 disc brakes

You have the early (76-78) style disk brakes/hubs where the rotor bolts to the back of the hub with mini truck solid rotors. The land cruisers of that vintage would have had vented rotors with the same 6 mounting holes. In 79 the rotors changed to the 8 hole rotor held on by 2 bolts and the 6...

    Builds FARM USE

I believe the entire filter unit is available- but with a metal bowl versus the original glass bowl. Will have to look and see if I saved the part number for it.

    RevISK’s ‘80 FJ40 - A Girl Named Norman

Leaving the isolator shouldn't cause any harm, but why leave it if has no purpose...

    RevISK’s ‘80 FJ40 - A Girl Named Norman

That most likely is a battery isolator to control/dual batteries... looks like someone expanded the factory tray for a second battery (over the starter area of the engine bay). Welcome to the madness... HTH, Will.

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

That looks great. I need to replace mine as well on my '74. Is that factory weatherstrip or aftermarket?

Builds Previously known as the 'One Week Resto' now Pathetically keeping it alive... 500k

I did the same thing to three of my cruisers... I learned after I did the V8/74 to attach them at the top of the wheelhouse to the rear roll bar bolts with angle iron versus drilling new holes in the sheet metal like I did the first time. That was back in the late eighties when I cut the rear...

    clutch slave size?

Any auto parts store will have 3/16 brake line with the correct 10mm fittings. I used this to extend my hard line to the passenger side when I switched to 4 speed along with the V8 in my '74...

1977 FJ 40 one wire alternator

Go with one for an fj60. About 55 amps and internally regulated. I did this in my 72 with a 76 2f.

    Another what is this question...

You may be correct now that I remember the year of your current project (1964). All mine are later models (69-74) and had the mirrors mounted to the door hinges...

    Another what is this question...

If your picture is the mirror you are going to use ok. The part you showed above mounts to the upper door hinge using the hinge bolts not to the side of the cowl through drilled holes in the body. HTH, Will

    Another what is this question...

door bracket for side view mirror... The hump is for clearance on the door hinge, the other side of the bracket has only one bolt hole to match the door hinge.

    Barn find engine knock

These are the inexpensive mistakes to make... much better to make those than the expensive ones. That's a nice ride you found by the way, and being a post 79 model we can't give you a hard time about the headlight bezel being upside down since they are rectangular unlike the earlier models.
