I did drain and fill with Toyota T-IV, twice, then Redline D4 ,twice, all within the last 5k miles or so ... I assume 70% of the fluid is new, 50% should be Redline .. my japanese 100 doesn't have an ATF cooler after the radiator like your 100s ..

I fill it so it is at hot-low when warm, because I noticed several times when I am stuck in traffic for 30min or so (AC is on) and check when I arrive home, it is slightly above hot-high ..

I wasn't too motivated to do it after looking at the findings attached in post #23, maybe next time ... "Tundra 2uz with 5w20, 13k miles had less wear than 0w40 with 10k miles. I have also seen a 1986 Corolla specd for 10w30 had less wear on 0w20 than 0w40." tapping seems to go away after...

So I did 3k miles in about 21 months. Just did my oil change with TGMO 0w-20 SP. There is slight noticeable tapping ticks more than the Castrol 0w-20 EP it replaces ... maybe just the fresh oil?!! Or maybe I didn't notice it as much before :rolleyes:

Run away from both, especially if you plan to build it! Find a cleaner one from Vancouver, US or Japan if u have to! Also, I bought my 03 lx470 in 2018 with about 266,000 km for 11k, and sold it after my North America trip 2 years later because of the rust! Got myself a rust free 100 from Japan.

wouldn't that show in the coolant colour? what's the age & mileage? coolant flushed regularly?

23 and spotless, but only about 84k miles.

Is there a limit to how big the aftermarket cooler can be (8 vs 16 rows), or as long as I top it off after install there shouldn't be any concern about system pressure?!

Great thank you! Does up to 3000 lbs need brake controller fitment? Is a transmission cooler necessary? I dont have one, mine goes straight from the radiator back to the tarns ..

My JDM 100 doesn't have a tow package or brake controller, so if I ever decide to rent a 5000 lbs camper, can I fit a trailer hitch and tow, or I need more things to consider? I was thinking of upgrading to DOT 5.1 fluid beforehand.

Can u stop CDL from engaging automatically when going to 4Low? or disengaging it once it is on in 4Low?

No mechanic refused working on my JDM, they actually love it and appreciate it, however, 90% of alignment shops will refuse to work on JDM cars, especially with a lift kit
