    Wanted CA/NV/OR/WA: 2003+ LX/LC in decent condition

I'm currently in the market looking for a 2003+ LX/LC in decent condition. The less rust, the better for me. Would also prefer paint to be in decent condition too (no peeling clear coat or anything like that) Preferring a mileage figure near or under ~150,000 miles, but of course that is only a...

    Center diff lock stuck?

When my CD is locked on pavement I get scrubbing at pretty much all wheel angles, rather than only at full steering lock. At full steering lock, the CV's are in the most extremely position, and if they aren't greased up 100% they'll make noises. You'll definitely feel the front end hopping if...

    Center diff lock stuck?

Honestly, this sounds more like your cv joints need to be serviced on the front; have you checked your boots on the front?

New Member - 2003 Land Cruiser In SF Bay Area

Given the code that was thrown (and the lights that are on) it definitely is an issue with your center differential/transfer case. No issues when driving, right? Tires don't chirp when you are making hard turns? It sounds like the sender wire for the signal has a loose connection coming out of...

87 oct vs. 87 ethanol free vs. 93 premium???

Something interesting to know is that they actually use ethanol as an easy way to boost octane levels in fuel. Regardless, with my truck, I notice an obvious performance loss when running 87 vs 93, but noticed no difference in running ethanol vs. non-ethanol (other than the pain on the wallet)...

Burnt Valve ...what to do now?

A leak down test is a sure fire way to figure out where your lost compression is going - HOWEVER, depending on how burnt your valve is (if it even is), I'd expect a compression number much lower than 110 PSI. When you were testing the compression, were you keeping the throttle body open? Intake...

To VVTi Or Not To VVTi that is the ?

I have not driven a VVTI myself, but I've felt the difference between the 4/5 speeds. The 5 speed will make a difference itself in the feeling between the two, although at that altitude with a trailered car I doubt even a VVTI would have enough power to pass.

To VVTi Or Not To VVTi that is the ?

Something I've noticed with the non-VVTI's is that they really do lack upper-end power. On the 5 speed when pulling away from a light, once you hit third the truck forgets how to accelerate. Not a problem if you're a passive driver but just something to keep in mind. Then again, my experience is...

How to get peak AC performance from your 2003+ 100 series

Just sent $32 over, now I need to find a fan to order

How to get peak AC performance from your 2003+ 100 series

So the Depo aux fan failed on you... were you running the fan 100% of the time at that point? I'd think it probably has a duty cycle, which would lead to a 100% duty cycle killing it. Do you know how much the aux fan affects air flow when it isn't running? I.e. if I'm cruising down the highway...

    Calling all electrical gurus

Hmm, now this is kind of a far stretch but it could potentially be a grounding issue (where a 12V+ is touching the frame, thus causing that pop noise and voltage sag) I don't have the electrical diagram but if someone else does, it may show a common source line for those components. Secondary...

    spark plug removal problem

It sounds like you aren't pushing the socket down far enough? Could you try using a standard deep well socket (without the magnetic spark plug holder) to see if that will engage the spark plug?

    Door chime/buzzer disable

Hmm, I'm 80% sure that you can disable some part of the beeping through Techstream... Props on ripping the buzzer out though

    Experience with a JK

Eh, you can wash the JK interior with a hose if you wanted to I suppose if it wasn't pulling air then you didn't have to worry about hydrolocking, that would be a great deal considering I've seen JK's do worse :D If it was pretty much any other vehicle, no way.

Bought my first ever 100 last night, 05 LX470

Wait, I was under the impression that your fuel smell was happening when you undid your fuel cap, due to the excess pressure in the tank pushing gasoline vapor out through the filler neck. If you are smelling gas 100% of the time then there most definitely is a problem that needs to be fixed.
