1993 80 Series A442F Stuck in Overdrive When in "D"

Check your TPS. Inexpensive check and it can cause those codes and transmission issues because it tells the ECU whether the engine is in an idle state. There's a post somewhere on here about it.

    Need help identifying sensors

My understanding is that it cuts off the A/C compressor when coolant temps are too high (I believe around 226 degrees F).

What are others doing when their VAF’s go bad? ‘94 FZJ80

The board I threw into my VAF was from a '90 Camry. Same part number stamped on top and looked identical to the naked eye - but that doesn't mean much. I will say it's working fine so far. Truck lacks power, drives like trash, and limps along just like it should! Joking aside, finding a whole...

New to the site with an 80 series LC, it cranks, but does not start. Having fun chasing the issue.

Assuming the CEL bulb is in the cluster and not burned out, check that you are getting power at the ECM. The "how to" was recently answered in another post. Also, if it's a '93 with the older ECM then it could have gone bad. But first check that you're getting juice to the ECM before you go...

What are others doing when their VAF’s go bad? ‘94 FZJ80

Bench tested mine and it wasn't within spec (previously rebuilt by Bavarian Restoration with good results over a couple of years). Going to do a VAF to MAF conversion, but in the meantime just went to the parts yard and pulled the VAF out of an old ('90) Toyota sedan and put the circuit board...

Coolant Leaking into Passenger Footwell & on Front Passenger Mudflaps

Been there, done that. It's likely the front heater core. Yes, you have to remove the dash. It's cool. Just screws and such. I was able to find a good radiator shop that repaired my old one for about $150. So far so good.

Post-Timing Belt No Crank, New Battery, Starter Works

Hi All, First time in the GX forum (usually on the 80 side). Bought my wife an 06 GX and wanted to do the timing belt since the PO didn't know when it was last serviced and it had no prior maintenance history (190k mi). Disconnected the battery, followed the FSM, you get the idea. Anyway, I...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Added keyless entry. No more jiggling the key in the lock praying it'll open. Best mod to date? Maybe! Used this thread: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/how-to-add-only-remote-keyless-entry-locking-to-1994-fzj80.1045759/

FZJ80 Cost of baselining and ownership

I try to call my dad every week, or at least every other week. Since he's retired, he spends a lot of time working on his home place in MS. Every time we talk, without fail, he'll tell me about something he's having to fix on his tractor. These trucks are tractors. They endure a lot of abuse...

    Replacing 1FZ-FE Head

@Kernal and @Malleus gave very good pointers. I will just add that you'll likely want to replace, and not reuse, the head bolts. IIRC, I used the supra or ARP style bolts. My memory is a bit murky because I did all the work in the driveway with, like @jsloden, the engine very much inside the...

    Anna Nicole Smith is bleeding

Been there. It's tough. Follow the above advice and check out OTRAMM's YouTube vid on the front knuckle/bearing work. It's fantastic and very helpful.

    Anna Nicole Smith is bleeding

The previous two posts are spot on. Leave the RMS/oil leak for now and determine whether you feel comfortable tackling the other two items. There is no snark in this comment. It is 100% accurate.
