Thanks Audi2nr, That is helpful...
However I'm sure if toyota have changed the design (I am struggling to find an exploded diagram of the H152 gearbox) but I tried a similar approach and couldn't get the gear of at all. (Like I was putting such a large amount of force the gear puller thread...
****ing toyota and their cost cutting bull****...
Also, @SNLC bragging about your achievements while not bothering to answer the question isn't particularly helpful nor in the spirit of this forum.
Nice work, did you end up having to pull the rear 5th gear hub thing as well? If so, was it drilled and tapped or blank like mine?
What year gearbox is yours?
Tried a couple of home made tools (which took hours to make), no luck. Really bloody annoyed and normally I can do the input shaft swap/rebuild in a few hours, but this has taken all day and not even half way through disassembly. Going to call toyota tomorrow and see what tool they use and what...
Not sure if this is the right thread to add this in, but has anyone done the swap of a brand new (2022) H152F into a 80 series?
Specifically the issue I am facing is the 5th gear clutch hub on the back of the mainshaft hasn't been drilled and tapped (like it is in all H150/H151 and at least the...
Also worth checking out Tosshin as per my thread here...
https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/tosshin-com-new-alternative-to-partsquip-megazip-amayama-carmarka-etc.1307801/
(I have no association... Just I previously was using carmarka but have since switched to tosshin and found them to be better).
You are correct in that the H150 has a different layshaft, but the terrain tamer kit includes the new layshaft so i am pretty certain you can use a H151 donor.
Don’t mean to rub salt into the wound, but if you’re ever driving a vehicle and something goes wrong…. STOP.
Seems like a minor issue of stripping a drive flange or similar, but by pushing the vehicle hard there is a chance you’ve ruined the viscous coupler.
The amount of times I’ve seen $100...
Its very highly likely that it came from a HZJ100/150. (With the naturally aspirated 1HZ diesel engine). The R151 gearbox is actually a nice smooth shifting box (much better than the H151) but is medium duty. It can't really handle the torque of the more powerful turbo diesel engine (or the...
I am 99.99% certain that is the weaker R151 gearbox from a 100 series cruiser.
Edit: you could technically bolt it up, but don’t expect it to last very long. Especially if the engine has been modified.
where abouts in the world are you located?
I was under the impression the bearing issue was related to the original bearings only, and that replacement bearings didn’t suffer the same issue.
Having said that, bearings are very cheap so I personally would pull the pan every time I do the timing belt to change the bearings/inspect the oil...
Wow, that rear transfer case kit is bloody expensive for a design with some pretty fundamental issues (EG it relies on all 4 wheels being on the ground and is a single point of failure).
I reckon I could put a kit together for less than that to convert to a proper caliper with electric...
Honestly I wouldn’t bother… do basic maintenance and drive it until it dies, then get a replacement motor.
The issue is, if you are going to sync money into the engine you want to do everything… pistons/rings, full set of bearings/seals, machine the block/heads, rebuild the injection pump, new...
