Lx470 with 288k miles. Good idea?

If you don't already have a toad, you'll need to add $5k+ for vehicle receiver, tow bar, brake actuator, wiring, etc. to tow the LX.

Rear Control Arms - can you buy just the bushings?

Some of the bolts/nuts are marked as not reusable in the FSM, mine all looked good but I changed the ones marked in the manual. Getting the arms back on was not easy. I only removed one link at a time but had to jack up the rear and put on jack stands to maneuver the axle to get the links back...

Rear Control Arms - can you buy just the bushings?

I ended up using a hole saw to cut out the middle and a hacksaw to cut the shell of each bushing. I have a harbor freight 10 press that i am still learning how far i can push it. It might have worked to get them out but i didnt push it. I used the press and an adaptor from a ball joint press...

Question For Those Who Flat Tow Behind Motorhome

I have a RVI battery charger installed in the engine bay. On the LX side the charger is wired to both lx battety and +12v and ground on the 6 pin connector at the front bumper. I dont disconnect the battery. Regarding the key position, on my lx there is a spot between off and acc that unlocks...

Rear Control Arms - can you buy just the bushings?

Yes on the uppers, the part no is on the rubber in the pic (if you zoom in) 48702-60090. Lower arms have different bushings front and back. I went ahead and pressed in 4 solid ones. All bushing pressed in without issue.

    Most comfortable AHC replacement available

I just went through replacing bushings and cushions front and back along with flushing fluid. I got the bushings, cushions, orings and backer rings from partsouq, cost was about $150ish with shipping. Fluid was another $150ish off ebay. I did the work myself, took me about 6 - 8 hrs taking my...

Rear Control Arms - can you buy just the bushings?

Working on my 04 LX470 Lower rear arms now. The upper arms use 4 x 48702-60090. The old bushings have the part number in the rubber but look like they have a much thicker shell than the new ones. Had to cut out old ones, new ones pressed in no problem. The lower arms have different bushing...

Front AHC shock bushing and cushion replacement

Tackled this last weekend. Word of advice, use an open/box wrench or deep socket to remove the top nut, a regular depth socket will mangle the metal nipple sticking out of the AHC shock.

04 LX470 Rear AHC Cushion, Bushing, and O-Ring Replacement

I have an 04 LX with ~271k miles that I am slowly updating as much of the rubber bushings and cushions as I can take. This is my experience replacing the 2 cushions, lower bushing, o-ring and backing washer for both rear AHC shocks. Looks like there are 2 camps, one is cut the floor pan and...

Think I destroyed my parking brake, please help

The parking break shoes/pads have a spring that holds them to the backing plate, if the pad was stuck to the rotor is would have compressed while taking it off, then maybe pulled the pad/rotor back once the bolts are out. Are both rear tires are off or at least not touching the ground? If so...

You know you made the right vehicle choice when...

Sometimes owning a higher mileage 100 series is a PITA (04 270k miles), something is always in need of refreshing, maintenance, attention. etc... And I love every minute of it. Sometimes however, especially when I pull into a gas station, or during a "quick" repair that takes 6hrs to finish...

    Toyota CV Axle Markings?

There is a 100 series in a local pick-a-part and I am thinking about grabbing the CVs. Is there any way to know if they are original Toyota just by visual inspection? Thanks

2000 LX feeling tired at 250k

I am all for new tools and if you can get a press, get a press, I want one just not in the card. If a shop press isn't a possibility, I would recommend getting a good ball joint press (BJP). I find the BJP to be very versatile and you can use it on things that are still attached to the car. I...
