They normally would clean and media blast the parts prior to spray application. Much like getting parts painted. Might be a bit over kill since Cerakote is used in firearms and high heat/wear applications.

Just out of curiosity, anyone ever consider Cerakote for their chrome pieces? The thought had occurred to me as you'd have to strip off all of the trim and get them painted anyways. From what I've read about cerakoting, it will last a lot longer and be more durable than typical automotive paint.

Not exactly. mine has the white nylon screws as well. its difficult to explain with out pictures, but if you havent had any issues then im guessing your doesnt have the same "issue" as mine. i will try to upload some pictures tonight if i was unsuccessful in squeezing the parts closer together...
