Your thoughts on buying a 80 series in 2025

I've owned my 1997 since 2004 and have been meticulous on maintenance, keeping up the aesthetics, and sprinkling in some modern conveniences (stereo, back up camera, etc). If I was to buy an 80 today for around $10K, I could easily spend another $15K to make it comparable to my current rig...

The advantage of clockwise is that it puts you on the inside lane when on the shelf road. When I led this group ride a few years ago we did counterclockwise, which put us in some uncomfortable positions when encountering oncoming traffic. Be prepared with patience, as there are some traffic jams...

    Am I unreasonably optimistic?

I think it would be far cheaper in the long run to buy a truck in much better initial condition. Everything on these trucks is expensive to repair/replace and parts availability is limited. The vehicle you are looking at would be a frustrating money-pit.

    Post Your Blackstone Report

I might attempt the 3-year oil change interval next time as I only drive 2,500 miles per year. I can hear the collective groans of people who think this is blasphemy!

I don't recall. It looks like the Napa part is now over $200, so this may no longer be cheaper than OEM.
