So about four weeks ago, I accidentally rear-ended somebody and my rig took some damage. It went to the autobody shop 3 1/2 weeks ago, and is currently getting repaired now. We are just waiting on sourcing the headlamps, and then my rig will be done.
I ordered two OEM headlamps from a wrecked ‘97 Land Cruiser from a parts yard in Mississippi. The left-hand driver side headlamp was great, no issues. But the right one had broken tabs and cracked glass. (The guy said they were in great shape! Argh.)
So I got on the phone with Cruiser Corps the other week and they had a new old stock right hand, passenger side driver’s headlamp for ‘97 Land Cruiser still in the original packaging that they sold me for $600.
Well, it just arrived to the autobody shop today, and the guy working on my car sent photos of it and said that the lenses on this new part that I ordered from Cruiser Corps had different lenses than the other headlamps we ordered and the OEM ones on my rig.
So now we are stuck in a sticky situation. There is no right hand headlamps for sale on eBay or anywhere on the internet (OEM).
Land Cruiser NW here in Portland told me that they are unobtainable, practically. So I am stuck, wondering if I am going to have to go aftermarket…
Do any of you have any experience with aftermarket headlamps for these 80’s series? I am not a fan of the Depo ones — they are hideous! And I would prefer, preferably not like anything LED, either.
I found this listing on eBay for headlamps for an 80’s series. They look like the OEM glass ones, except I think these are plastic. They look good to me… But I was wondering — has anybody used this particular brand of aftermarket headlamps? If so, could you post a picture of them to this thread so I can see what they look like on a rig?
Or if you have recommendations for a different manufacturer of headlamp, could you please send that my way, also?
