    Charcoal Canister Replacement Option

Beware of used canisters. If the activated charcoal gets gasoline soaked, it becomes useless. A previous owner of my LC100 would top off the tank which led to gas contamination of the canister. I’m not sure how to check the state of the charcoal on a used one.

Might the old one be impregnated with gas?

Anyone look at the Tacoma canister 98-02? At first glance at the pictures it looks similar. I haven’t had a chance yet to look at actual drawings.

What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

The other thing I did recently was to fix my shift lock issue. When I bought the truck, the shift lever could move freely from park to low and back again without pressing the button and even with the key out of the ignition. I had though that it was the shift lock solenoid, so bought one of...

I got them through the local Toyota dealership in Walnut Creek, CA. They came to $235.16 each with free shipping. Unit Sub-Assy, Headlamp W/Clearance, LH from $209.83 | Toyota OEM parts 81059-60072 | Cruisin4Parts.com - https://cruisin4parts.com/oem-parts/toyota/81059-60072 and Unit Sub-Assy...

Vosla HIR2 (9012) +120 for the low beams and Toshiba HIR1 (9011) for the high beams. The lenses on my fog lights are clouded and the reflectors behind them are dulled, but I'm not sure I want to drop $200+ for each -- assuming I can even get them. I might just polish the lens for now.

What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

1999 LC100: I did the same. I replaced both the left and right headlight assemblies (right hand: 81019-60072, left hand: 81059-60072). Notice the difference in the reflectors: Daniel said I needed to check to see if the reflectors had dulled before bothering putting HIR/HIR2 bulbs in. I can...

When you get tired of playing with the glue on the canister, try replacing with the 2000 Tundra canister. It’s basically the same except the mounting bolts are in a different place. The locking slide on the firewall is the same. So that plus a heavy duty zip tie did the trick. It’s been working...

Yes, a whole lot cheaper. If you are will to wait a few weeks on shipping (Toyota 77740-34080 (7774034080) CANISTER ASSY, CHARCOAL - https://www.amayama.com/en/part/toyota/7774034080), about $180 or so.

I wonder how well something like this would fit? It's the canister for a 2000-2002 Tundra. It does look pretty similar.

Sadly, the 77740-60390 canister is out of production and no one seems to have a new one any where in stock.
