    HAM just died...is this common?

Boy do I feel like a knuckle-head. I had a bit of corrosion on my connecting cables to my battery that once was cleaned off, everything works perfectly again! LOL. Lesson learned. We can close this thread down now.

    HAM just died...is this common?

...thanks...all that you suggested is above my pay grade and I have yet to see if the fuse is blown or what the heck is going on. I appreciate everyone's help in trouble shooting and sorry for jumping the gun a couple of months...but I will dig into this in January, hopefully! You all are awesome!

    HAM just died...is this common?

Thanks for the trouble shooting tips. It is not powering up at all....so that's the first place I will check. Need to get an ohmmeter...as suggested. My antenna is fixed mounted with a Gamaviti hood mount option. No Coax near the exhaust. I am in the middle of a move, so it will be a month...

    HAM just died...is this common?

Out of the blue, my HAM radio stopped working after having it work flawlessly for 8 years. I don't use it all that often, so it's not "worn out." I have not yet checked the in-line fuse, but is this common for radios to die unexpectedly? Sorry I don't have more details, as I have not yet had...

Lots of great suggestions for you from others on this already, so I won't repeat. Nix the trailer hitch cargo tray. I know several people that have plastic tubs, coolers and tarps melt back there due to the exhaust hitting it just a few inches a way. The more food prep you can do ahead of...

    Suggestions: Staying Close to Denver

Tons of great hikes in Jefferson CO, near Golden CO. Golden Gate State Park. The Galbraith trail is a nice 5 mile loop. Eldorado Canyon is popular for climbing, south of Boulder. There's a few suggestions to keep you busy for a few days.

HAM Radios work way better than CB's, but you do need license to operate them! Many of the trail leaders and gunners have both and several rigs have them each year! Much clearer comms for sure! If you don't have a license you can always listen, but you can't respond, unless it's an emergency...

    270,000 mile update!

Maybe this will help someone else out there or at least make you smile! As I have educated my wife, and now 3 adult kids, that all vehicles are machines, and all machines need periodic maintenance and repairs. Which come with an expense from time to time. Plan for it. I recently rolled...
