The front grille on my '74 is pretty sun faded and chipped.

I am trying to decide between painting it and powder coating it.

I think the powder coat will be more durable to rock chips, but I will be limited to silver, maybe I could paint the letters black after the powder coat...

Does anyone have pictures of how the grille was painted from the factory?

My '74 grille has the little extra detail fins in the bottom corners.

Thanks for any pics you can provide of a original or restored grille!

I sandblasted mine and used the Rustoleum Hammer Pewter color. A year later it's holding up very well and that's sitting outside in the AZ sun. I tried to paint the letters white after the silver but it turned out s***ty so I just went all silver.

I did the headlamp rings and bumpers also.

I found that if you paint the pewter first and then come back and tape over it and cut the letters you can then paint the black.
