The Speaker Panel.

This is a simple way to place a decent 6.5" round speaker under the front dash area of an FJ55. The parts needed for the install are going to be as follows:

1. Two roof vent stack flash panels part number 11940 (LOWES)
2. Box opener
3. 3/8" self tap metal screws (8 total needed)
4. your 6.5" speaker with face plate

Now take the roof panel and cut out the rubber center up to the plastic but allow some of the rubber to still be on the plastic to allow for some cushion during the speaker installation.

When the center is cut out you will have something that looks like this.

Now fit the speaker into the hole.

Secure the speaker with some regular metal screws on the two hole that do not support the mesh speaker face cover.

Attach the mesh face cover with the remaining for metal screws.

Removed the kicker panel from the FJ55 and place it next to the roof flashing so you know where to cut it. I marked and cut mine and they look like this.

Now you just replace the speaker panel with 1/4 panel into the factory position using the 3/8" self tapping metal screws.

The neat thing is there are a couple other sizes for roofing flash panels... i think the size just below this one might support a 5.25" speaker.
They are nice looking and have a factory appearance. SWEET!

BTW.... I have another option that might allow 8" speakers... have to find them... i remember seeing something along the same lines in another type of product use....

Yep that looks pretty good. Cannot wait to get some speakers hooked up to the Am radio I will be Jammin.

I'm planning on just buying an amp and just using my Ipod that way I still have the stock look.

Great idea! I have been trying to figure out if and where to hide a radio in my rig, but an Ipod might just be the ticket.

my plans are to install a small CB into the factory radio hole.... i did have the new radio under the dash.... now im going to put it else where... will let you all know when i find a good place....

Not sure if you still get on here - wondering what the idea was for the 8" speakers...
