Details

Rust free late model 40 series tub that has been sitting on a shelf in a conditioned space for over 25 yrs. It is in beautiful shape.
Originally sourced from Texas to replace the tub on a 40 that ran too good to justify tearing down and eventually got sold.
I’ve been into Cruisers since the 70’s. (I have every issue of Toyota Trails…)
There are so many parts to list.
Paki soft top and Soft doors, hard doors, consoles etc.
Time to start passing on these gems to the Cruiser Community. Starting with this late model tub and an original paint early 70’s FJ40 disassembled in parts will be next. I’m not on Mud very often but I will try to check the post for questions or interest every evening.
No holds without a deposit, first cash gets er. I have pics and videos upon request and I can help load with the tractor. The tub is mounted on 4x4 wood skids for easy loading and transport.

I believe it is an ‘81 but I’m not positive. Anything in particular I can get a pic or measure for you to confirm? I have videos from below and above that you could check out too

A few more pics of the typical problem areas, cowl, body mounts, rear sill and bed crossmember.
3_puppies, I am not aware of any tub changes after ‘79 that would create fitment issues. I would love to learn about any variations from this era that you or anyone else has experienced.

Setting a starting price for something like this is difficult. I looked for comparables for a couple years and there just aren’t any. I’m sure most Mud FJ40 enthusiasts know about the changes to the metal thickness and anodizing process as well as the limited number of units brought to the US for the last generation of the 40 that make this tub a rare bird. There was a thread awhile back discussing the options for tub replacement and what a nice tub sitting on a shelf may be worth. Many comments described the value in saved labor as opposed to a CCOT 3/4 tub splice (and recent quality control issues) or a Chinese product with significant fitment issues.
I am open to reasonable offers and am willing to trailer it 3 hrs from where it’s located (basically the State line to the south and into the UP north) to help make this happen for someone restoring their late model 40. My wrenching days are quickly coming to an end so I would love to see this get on someone’s frame that wants an original Toyota resto.
