Hello Everyone,

This is my first real contribution to MUD, just been playing around for some time and never got my BJ60 build up before I sold it for the 7 Passenger 80 we have now.

So I will post my build of the 1996 US Spec. 80 Series with a fresh 1HD-T motor with the BEB, Timing belt and valves done 122000km's on the clock. this is mated to a 1996 H442F tranny and using my stock full time 4wd transfer case.

The engine and tranny are compliments of Sheldon at G&S Cruisers (70's Guy) here in Chilliwack and a huge amount of overtime worked to pay for it all.

At the same time I will be installing a stock AUS spec. sub tank and will probably start a different thread for that.

Before I start....FOR SALE

Fantastic!
You will love the end-result!
I'd love the part time transfer case, but shipping to CA is probably a killer...

Answers to some questions

Alright to answer some questions...

My engine Numer is 1HD 00014310

The part time transfer case did not come off my truck it came with the Transmission I got with the 1HD-t engine.

I got the Engine combo from Sheldon and Greg at G&S Cruiser parts right here in chilliwack.

I have been working on Sheldon for a long time and he finally agreed to sell me the combo he has been holding on to to do a late model build of his own.

The engine is from a Late 94 Import truck and the Transmission is actually off the 96 1HD-FT engine Sheldon put in his own truck with a Manual gearbox. so its a bit from 2 worlds.

I got my sub tank from MAN-A-FRE.... but i got my dual filler, sender and Guage from a fellow cruiser head I met on the off road 80's forum in AUS. I am working on a pump setup right now. Testing the stock 1FZ-FE in tank pump as a tank to tank transfer pump by running it 30 min a day and leaving it in a diesel can to test seals etc. so far so good. Tank and shipping from AUS was about the same as Man-A-Fre without the pain of the long boat ride. got the filler neck and parts air mail on 4 days.

Price wise the Engine combo was 10K but includes everything needed for the swap but the brains and a few bits.

I got the EXHAUST from Rocky Mountain Imports and he sells the Ceramic coated 3" for $1400.00

Got a new Rad and Starter for about $570.00

Having Sheldon in My back yard to ask questions and pick his brain - PRICELESS.

CDAN I don't know a lot about the transmission and transfer That is where I am doing my research and asking questions now. Auto Tanny's are new to me Always had Manuals but this was a trade off with the wife. Any info on someone else doing a similar swap into a later 80 would be great.

Think thats about it keep up the questions keeps me learnin as well.

Hey I am a C130 Hercules mechanic so this is a learning curve from the BJ60 build I did last year.

Wow your all in...thumbs up! :)

Wow. Hardcore. You work fast.

I wish I had the skills to do what you are doing. You will love the Diesel.

This place is a wealth of knowledge, and the people you already have helping are great. Sheldon definitely knows his stuff.

CDan and Beno will also be very helpful with parts, and they won't sell you things you don't need.

IF you have auto tranny problems that you can't sort out, Rodney at Wholesale Automatics is very helpful with these things. He sorted me out over the phone in about 15 minutes. When no one else could.

Cheers

Doug
