light harnes **small update below**

in reference to another post that i did not want to completly hijack...
https://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wagons/194950-rallylights-harness-arrived-hella-cool.html

how many lights u wanting to run?

also how much do u want to pay?

ill bet i could make a few of em here at the house of similar design...
how many amps would yall wanna run?
where would you want the lights mounted at?
and where would you want your switch mounted at?
and who would buy em? you know all that jazz...

if demand is high enough i could probally make these for you guys would have a fuseable link seperate relays all wires and conectors already wired and done. takes all the guesswork out of what to do all you do is find a place for it. if needed i could probally even draw up some sort of instruction pamplet thing for those that need some extra help...

i want to hear your ideas and opinions!!

DANG!!!! Just got ahold of Daniel Stern and told him I'd be ordering one of his... where were you last week??? :D

oh well, his is still quite nice.

good luck!

so then this is something you would be interested in if you had not already purchased one?

I know that for the 6x's series in general the headlight wiring has been a problem, and it will only get worse over the next few years. If you could make a comperable product' for less $, it should sell en masse!

I will look into this as my next thing then if demand for the aux lighting is high enough.
Thanks

I'm interested in both an upgrade for my head lights and some aux lights. I was going to get ahold of Daniel Stern as well but if your willing to make it a plug and play I would be very interested!

I'm probably not the only one with a 60 series that--electrical wise--is right now completely stock. I'd LOVE it if a pre-assembled harness existed for both upgrading headlights (to H4, presumably) and a pair of bumper-mounted fog lamps. With instructions so that I can't screw everything up. I'd be willing to pay 100-200 dollars for this, depending on how user friendly it is. Perhaps more, but I'd like to have some money left over for the lights themselves!

Daniel Stern is awesome and does a great job of walking you through the buying process of fuses and lights, but I get the impression that the majority of folks on this board asking about this regularly want pretty much the same thing -- better H4 low and high beams and the wiring to handle them. And maybe a set of fog lamps mounted on the bumper. Those of you running fancier stuff don't need to talk about it nor do you need a kit like this, because you probably know how to do it all on your own. I, like a lot of us, I haven't the foggiest idea about how to solder the wiring and fuses on my own.

So, if you can get a harness built for cheap, I'd be all over it.

Not to complicate matters, but I have a FJ62... so I'd need it specific for that headlight setup.

The rally light setup looks promising too...

Before you go spending a lot of time on research, you may want to look at Wayne Tangen's info in the 3FE yahoo group files section. Wayne has supplied a nice set of drawings and instructions on how to make the harness for the FJ62. Modifying it for the FJ60 would just be two less relays and wires.
Wayne's prices from when he last purchased parts may be a little low now, but parts run about $50. (w/o wiring)

Pluss, I'd be interested in what your finished product looks like. I need to make one of these, but time and other commitments preclude my adding this to my list.

Count me in...I want to upgrade my stock 62 lights and run at least two aux. lights on the bull bar. A new harness ready to plug and play would be great.

ok since there is so much demand for these things i guess il be goin to the store later to get some stuff for mock up... so i can hopefully have a finished product in a reasonable amount of time.

my next question is...

would yall rather have a second switch for your aux lights? like on your dash or another panel thas was installed...

like either of these...
the left side of the pic is the switch for my hellas...

these are the switches i mounted for my rock lights

my aux fuse block i added to run all my toys. CB, Rock lights, Hellas, and ect.

or would you rather have them come on with the high beams?

I'd definitely vote for the separate switch, esp since I want fog lights more than aux driving / pencil beam lights.

I would want them on a seaparate switch as well. Maybe powered only when headlights are one so it only takes one switch to turn them all off. (headlights and aux lights)

I would be interested depending on cost. I am having issues tryign to get the kc daylighters to work with a stock wiring kit on my wifes 4runner, boughth a new relay and everything and still cannot get it to work.

I have another set of those and some lightforce 240 blitz to put on somethign whenever I find the time to do it. (If we ever get a 100 I think the 240's will end up on it (along with an ARB).

TTT :shotts:

I think this is an excellent idea. I had to drive out to the boonies last week and came home in fog so thick I could only see about 5 feet, and immediately committed to getting new lights. It's amazing, the 62 headlights are so bad I can literally barely tell they're even turned on at night. I would be all over buying a plug and play wiring harness.

I'm interested! Separate switch
