I bought my first Land Cruiser in 2000, it's a 1993 Fzj80. I had a chance to drive one in Egypt on vacation with my parents, needless to say I fell in love. When I got back home I immediately sold my pathfinder and bought an 80. The sickness had started:) I found a nice one with lockers and soon had it OME'd and ARB'ed I wheeled it and it was great. But since the sickness had started I wanted more, I wanted my dream vehicle when I was in high school. You see the 40 had always caught my eye but I never was able to own one. In those times it was never practical. In collage I moved from house to house and after it was from one apartment to another. Around 2002 I was ready. I was stable and ready to own a 40. I looked for about a year and found an ideal one about twenty minutes from my home in Belmont Ca. Thanks to Mudrack I got word that a sweet 1982 fj40 in my favorite color Mustard was for sale. I called and arranged a time to meet. The truck was very complete, it had the original tool case, original owners manual, original jack, etc. Everything worked right down to the seat belt buzzer and the interior light. The owner was a fellow cruiser head from Texas, he had brought the truck down to CA but now was having a child and wanted something bigger. He ended up getting a nice 62. The truck had diamond plating on it, I made a deal with owner that if he took the diamond plating off and there was no rust I will buy it on the spot. He did, no rust I had my dream truck:beer: Here are the specs :

1982 fj40
OEM power steering
OEM 16" split rims from Canada
255/85/16 BFG mud terrain
OME suspension
Tuffy center console
Tuffy rear speaker boxes
Alpine stereo
Polk audio marine speakers
Kaymar rear bumper w/camping light
ARB front bumper
Warn 8274

can't you spray on rust on the rear corners or something....

you're rig is making the rest of the world too dang jealous.

beautiful rig! i love the tall skinny knobbies. i think they look so cool on a cruiser.

thanks for the complements guys, there is rust on the truck in all the usual places. The front driver side floor board, the rear seel. there are holes in the rear quarter panels where the PO had installed diamond plating. None of that matters, the truck is perfect in my eyes;) I forgot to mention the truck came with dual fuel tanks, I had Mudrack custom cruisers fit a factory gas door and goose neck onto the auxiliary fuel tank. I recently got some GT seat-covers which look pretty good an fit excellent. I have a new style ARB bumper waiting for me which I will be installing within the next couple of weeks.

This truck came with a passenger side handle by the roof/headliner is this original, anyone know ?

Nice rig:) Yes, that wheel and tyre combo certyainly gives it a tough but stock look that is cool enough to make you look twice for the right reasons. Bling is over-rated!

Kaymar is deffinately on my "to-get" list! Did it come with the truck? Your a lucky man cos they aint cheap.

I would say the passenger side handle is original. My '82 FJ45 had exactly the same one. I think unofficially it called the "F#%K ME" handle because the passenger usually grabs it and the dash at the same time and shouts "F#%K ME" when steep approach angles combined with questionable speed threaten to throw them through the roof!!:D

Lupdog.

rust my ass....that is nothing.

and there are few shops you could've picked better than gary's shop..he's a great guy.

truly a beautiful cruiser.

Thanks for the info Lupdog, yes the handle looks to be original. Never seen one on a 40. The truck originally came with white steel wheels in poor condition. I wanted 16" wheels so I started doing research. Talked to Dan at 4wheelauto.com who hooked me up with 5 brand new steel split rims. It was cool they still had the toyota tags on them when I received them. I bought the kaymar rear bumper from Man-a-fre their US distributor, I am thinking about getting the jerry can holder eventually.

Handle is original to the 82 and 83 US models (both mine did). Very cool, I have one hidden in the garage.;)

So, dreams do come true!!!

Who makes that overhead console?

Do you have a better pic of it?

I would like to have something similar when I install my hardtop.

i think conferr may have been original manufacturer, but my memory is thin on those. they are easily enough made. i had one on the lemon. cut it down to fit the roll cage later as i had my cb mounted on it. all it is is a tray with a small (1"?) lip. not good for putting stuff in when you're off road unless you make a net facing for it.

Navid...never see ya around on the board anymore...must be hanging out in the 80 section.:D Sweet ass cruiser man...looking good. That's awesome your able to find your dream cruiser...definetly looks like a keeper. Did you ever sell your bro's '83?? That was a sweet looking cruiser as well.
