California '76 had an oil cooler.

I believe this is the case.

If it's got a pinhole in it, it's probably all rusted out inside and needs to be replaced. You could repair it and hope for the best, but if it goes bad in the future you have to drop the oil and the coolant. :meh:

SOR's got them for $100 + S&H.

Fast Eddy, I did check them first. They are always the fall back. Looks like it's SOR.

I would post up in the parts wanted classifieds first. It seems like it's about a $40 part to me. I've got one with a bent water tube if you want to fiddle with it.

Are you sure you really need an oil cooler?
When I put a 2F block into my '74 Pig, I put on the oil cooler just because I needed a spot to screw in the oil pressure sender. I never plumbed it for water. Later, when I found the oil filter mount with the hole for the pressure sender, I swapped it out...

I like the extra internal cooling, but it does add a few extra hoses, potential failure points. I had one blow once, the only time I've ever been stranded while driving a cruiser. At the time I wasn't even aware I had a lower oil cooler hose.

Pighead, do you still have the oil filter/oil cooler base? If so, would you be interested in selling it? I just need the base (adapter that bolts to the block).
