I saw reference made in a thread that there was a reproduction OEM soft top bow set that was possibly going to be ready by May or June or so.

I'm looking for more information on this.

A couple months ago someone said they'd send me some dimensions so I could have some bended up, but I never heard anything. ('Course, I already have the hard-to-make "B-pillar" bow & everything forward of that)

i think a lot of people would pay good money for a set, but someone just needs to bite the bullet and produce some

Get me a cad file of the bows and I will give it a shot.

This is easier said than done. Even if you start with hard top sides, it takes about 16 - 20 hours of work just to fabricate the front bow set. If you wanted to start from virgin pressings, you would have to fabricate the dies, which would be a major capital expense. Biting the bullet would be OK, but you don't want to choke on it.

So how about a front bow pair that isnt an exact replacement but still has provisions to hold the fabric.....?.....

I know the Ideal thing is an exact reproduction but if this is such a hold up why not make a suitable substitute that does the same job? And yes, something better than a bestop front bow w/velcro....

Sorry Shawn...here you go. I think these are actually from Pin_Head.

Having good drawings, and good pictures is one thing...holding a part in my hands to copy is the best for me.

:hhmm: Wonder if anyone wants to lend me a set of GOOD bows for a short spell to copy :hhmm:

Dean, copying them isn't the biggest problem. It's being able to make them at a reasonable cost.

That's not a problem either. Depending on how you copy them. The way Ehsan makes them there is no way anyone could make them for that price.

But with a poly casting you could crank them out all day.

Poly...as in polyurethane?

Yep or composite if you like that name better. All it takes is a mold to be made.

It's all injected molded. With the normal tube structure.

I've got a collapsible oem soft top frame in the works. ;)

And even better I'm currently working on the fabric portion.

Lot's of things planned to come out of the pipeline in 2010. Lot's.

Southbostonfj, do you have dimensions for the sheetmetal sides?

OEM bows

Does anyone know the tube diameter and wall thickness? If the tubing isn't to thick it could be bent with hand benders.
Fabbing the door post would be the hardest......part.
reinforced fiberglass might work.

I might know where there are a bunch already made!!

Let me check and post back.
