Up for sale is a 1996 Toyota Landcruiser. This is kind of a feeler thread. I think I was asking too much for my truck.

It has always been serviced regularly, oil changed regularly, auto tranny flush just last year too. I am the 3rd owner and have taken great care of it.
I only use castrol synthetic oil, 91 octane gas. I average 13.0 mpg.

Mileage:157000

Upgrades include: led rear tail lights
Hid Xenon headlamps
2.5 inch Old Man Emu Heavy lift
ARB bumper
2008 FJ Alloy wheels
Terra Grapplers 285/70/17
08 Scion Radio with CD player and Pioneer speakers.
Rear and 3rd row seats are in spectacular shape
Front driver seat has typical wear.
Seats are electric.
Sunroof works well
All gauges workv
No oil leaks. ( just had one repaired this week actually)

I'm looking to get $8800 for it .

Full car checkup just completed and BIRF's are in great shape too.

The truck runs very strong, burns no oil. This rig doesn't have lockers.

looks clean, like the newer wheels!

Thanks. I like the look of FJ Cuiser owners when I ride by with their wheels on.

love to see a few pics of the front seat wear...where are you in Denver?

Here is how I would come up with a fair value for the truck: base price without lockers $4500

Preventive Maintenance (add if you've done it, otherwise subtract):
Head Gasket done +/- $600
PHH hose done +/- $200
Knuckles repacked recently +/- $500

Some of the key options valuable to me:
Bumper - $700
Wheels - $500
Lift - $600
Tires - $800

Based on what you've listed above, I would estimate $5800 - $6000 to be a fair price that I would pay.

Thanks for the guestimate...

Fair Price

Saw the ad on craigslist, good looking rig. The $8800 price is right on. I've been looking alot lately...... Good luck with the sale.

This sounds like the guy whose been bugging me all week on CL.. Kind of funny.

8800 sounds fair

I have shopped quite a few cruisers over the past month. I would say this price seems quite fair from what I have seen. For a decent cruiser with the mileage you have, and with the added value of the OME lift plus decent tires I would have gone for it. I bought mine with a few less miles, no lift, and a rough drivers seat for 7000. I plan on spending another 2000 +/- over the next couple months for an ome lift, tires and wheels. I will be right about where you are at that point, but mine does have locking diffs.

Good luck, and I like the wheels. Nice touch.

craigslist shoppers

It is amazing the lengths people go to through craigslist to justify the lowball prices they come up with. For me I watch to see what they actually sell for on ebay before I decide what I might get. It only costs a couple bucks to run it there at whatever price you want just to see what you get for a legitimate bid in the end. Just my .02, and may be all it is worth.

Have any of the above items been completed? If so, I think that'll help justify your asking price.

Good luck with your sale. Clean rig.

Funny. What an asshat.

What exactly makes you think I'm an asshat?! I'm not looking to pick a fight with anybody.... I was trying to offer the seller what I thought the vehicle was worth to ME... if you don't like it you don't accept it - what childish group of people you are. If it's such a great price - why is it STILL for sale?! You all talk a good game...

If one overpays for a vehicle, you all justify it... but try to point out legitimate facts about the vehicle and trying to offer a lower price makes me an 'asshat' here, I see...

Don't think this is the crowd I want to be part of.

Dumping on a guys asking price in a public forum is rude, at best. Frankly, no one gives a rats a** what YOU think it's worth. If his asking price doesn't match what you'd pay, offer him less in private, but trying to justify your low-ball number on his ad thread is in true bad form.
