I HATE it when
that happens...

Good lord that gives me anxiety.
Help us out with a bit of backstory please.

oh no! You know we are here to help with parts/support Doug.

Way back in 82 when I got my 72, the PO had pulled the diff covers - in the rear one of the c-clips was laying in the bottom. He said it was the factory gasket when he opened it up - no telling what was done with the rig before he got it - he was like 5th owner and I'm the 6th according to the title.

Always exciting when an axle snaps or all the studs shear holding the wheel on.

The M151 "jeep" could roll over at 15mph even with all it wheels on - killed a few troops while I was in Germany.

Short wheelbase units can swap ends very quickly without much notice.

Glad you're OK and doesn't look like much damage to nice rig!

What's with these rear axles lately. I'm following ScrapDaddy's Slow 71 recent frightening thread down in the Iron Pigs sty and he had a flaming rear tire pass him on the highway, with alot of subsequent damage. Do you guys have those little plastic Saint Christopher statues on your dash?
