First of all, I'm converting my vacuum tansfer case linkage to direct mechanical. The hi/lo dash pull lever is also getting removed.

I have a '71 FJ40 with the stock 3spd transfer case. But I do have a 4spd transmission. I ordered the parts from cruiserparts.net, I told them what I was doing and my trans/transfer combo. So I should have the right parts.

The linkage that controls the front wheel drive hooks up just fine and looks like it should work. However the linkage that goes to the top plate on the transfer case is a few inches short. I did get a top plate w/shift part attached to it from cruiserparts. It looks just like the one I have, but I don't know if the shift arm is in the same position as stock. Or maybe I need to lengthen part of the linkage myself.

If anybody has some insight to this I would appreciate it.

I was thinking about just welding in a peice to lengthen it. But I wanted to double check on here to see if anyone has done this. I'm not sure if the linkage will bind up or not if I do that.

How did it turn out? Is the kit worth buying?

Thx,
