I too see many bibs....which one is the PHH bib from this perspective? ???
[/quote]

It's forward of the EGR pipe mount, which is at the USA driver's side rear of the motor.

Whats the PHH? ???

Christo, The machine shop did a valve job, and changed the clearances. I checked them after getting the head/block back, and ordered shims based on the measurements. I should have mounted the head on the block before doing so as I think the torque procedure (90*, then 90*) may have altered the shape of the head slightly. Thankfully only 1 clearance is out, which is one that I measured in the middle of the range before ordering shims.

I hate to ask this question as I probably know the answer. Several of the head bolts seemed to give a little during the 2nd 90* turn. They didn't feel like the bolt heads were about to come off, but the rest of the bolts didn't have the same feel. Should I replace those bolts? No, I didn't keep track of the bolts, so I would probably replace all of them :(. That would mean I need a new head gasket, etc., correct? Ugh.

I'll ask Dan about the PS rebuild kit and hoses. I may need another shim anyway. Those cover screws are IN there.

I thought about painting it, but wasn't sure what to use. Standard rustoleum, or something for high heat applications?

CHROME that mama jamma for serious bling-bling! Who cares about hydrogen embrittlement! More chrome! :D

Seriously, I like both the black and the grey ideas. Use engine enamel and wash the whole thing down with brake clean first to get any oil off.

All the little things do add up, but you could replace the timing components, rebuild the power steering pump and replace the oil pump for less than the cost of one of those things failing once the truck is all put together.

I did install new timing components except the tensioner. I swapped 2 shims tonight, and all clearances are in spec.

Onward and upward.

Ya gonna toss a block heater in there while you can physically touch the freeze plugs?

Not a bad idea. thx. Last winter was pretty pathetic though.

A current pic. Put the oil pans on, and she's ready to stuff back in the rig. You can see the PHH at the end of the pipe off the aft end of the intake chambers.

Other side.

Better than porn......pull that plastic sheeting aside a bit more..... ::)

C-man

What clamps did you use on the PHH? Did you angle them in a manner that will permit removall with the engine installed? Sorry to be an arm chair QB, but I thought I'd ask......... ;)

D.

I replaced the hose a while ago and used spring loaded clamps. I like using pliers versus a screwdriver.

Jackson, The pipe has to be removable somehow, and the hose helps absorb vibration and expansion/contraction. The green stripe will last a long time.

More motor porn. Intake in place with new fuel filter, and motor mounted on stand. If you look closely, you can see the new knock sensor connector & splice. MVT (most valuable tools) so far are hoist, parts washer, and magnet.

Nice....er, ah good job, Eric!

Can't let this thread die . . .

Installed oil pans. Nice having an engine stand for this. Next up is splicing in new knock sensor wire, install rest of PS pump hoses, and then in she goes. After that, new fuel pump gets installed.

Hey Cruiserman
I like that add on light on the oil pan!!! Did you get it from C Dan or is that a one off unit ::)
Should make changing the oil or working under the 80 much easier but looks like it might cut down on ground clearance though :D

Looks good
I just hope i dont have to do that any time soon :)
