Hi all,

Im rebuilding a warn 8274 High mount winch and Im having trouble finding the oil.

Does anyone know what the exact details are of the required oil?

Does anyone know what the exact details are of the required oil?

IIRC the manual says straight 30w. This is not a particularly high-tech application, though I suspect that some shear strength would help the longevity of the oil, with the straight-cut spur gears in the 8274. I used some synthetic 75w-90 gear lube in mine, mostly just because I had a 5-gallon bucket of it in my shop already. Has worked well for the last 5 years.

I used 80W/90 gear oil, no problem.
