Can anyone tell me if the stock front 80 spindles are cast or forged?

Given the cast base I would assume the entire unit is cast then machined. Difference being that it is probably cast steel.

Thanks. Ive replaced one before because the axle stub snapped at the splines and mushroomed out the spindle end. The spindle didn't break, but couldn't be repaired.
Why? Got some funky plans?

yep. 14 B spindles and C&C hubs, 9" housing with full 35 spline shafts and some form of selectable locker.
if it doesn't seem wise to machine out the center of the stock spindle flange, then maybe dimension the stock piece and have some machinist friends at work make me some new ones out of a higher strength billet steel to press and weld the 14B spindle into. I'd probably have them heat treated too.
