Star City Land Cruisers is hosting its first annual Christmas Party and Primitive Camp out December 8-10 at the creek property of @LandSnoozer93 and his family (Thank you Nancy).

The weekend festivities are open to SCLC members, non members, friends, family, and anyone that would like to come enjoy the weekend in a fun and responsible manner. Please be respectful of others with your behavior/noise level late at night. Kids and dogs are always welcome! Any known issues with non social people, kids, dogs - please leave them at home. Saturday evening is the only structured time to include a Club sponsored dinner and Dirty Santa/White Elephant gift exchange ($50 max). This is a primitive camp event so plan on using Leave No Trace principles.

Short: Friday arrive after 12 noon, primitive camp out all weekend, depart for home by 12 noon. Provided meal includes Saturday dinner. Bring your own beverage of choice and a camp chair. Dirty Santa gift $50 maximum for each participating person.

Itinerary:
Friday 8th - no official events, on your own for all meals - show up after 12:00 to the creek and set up camp and relax.
Saturday 9th - Morning Forest Road (easy) Trail Ride to include a brunch stop at our very own Chuck Atkins abode for those who choose to go on the run. Return to camp for a club meal (TBD). Dirty Santa/White Elephant gift exchange after supper.
Sunday 10th - Leftovers creatively made into a delicious breakfast casserole for your dining pleasure. Depart before noon for home.

Where?

Private message @Comet or @LandSnoozer93 for Longitude/Latitude coordinates.
Craig Creek Property, VA

The property is a large open spot of land that has housed many structures, all of which have been creatively floated down stream annually when the creek tops the bank. Currently it is a primitive camp so plan accordingly as there is no running water or electricity. The “Necessary” is the large storage shed that houses the mower (supplies available). Cellphone service is sporadic but a signal is available close to camp if needed. Leave No Trace principles are in effect. There are many spots to camp and cellphone signal is questionable so plan accordingly if that's important to you. There is a large communal fire ring that we will congregate around near the creek - coordinate with Thomas if you have access to more fire wood or can bring some. The annual Polar Bear dip will be the only opportunity to bathe but the “Necessary” is big enough to towel off in If needed.

When?

There will be only a handful of folks on Friday afternoon, most show up that evening.
You don't have to stay the whole time - if you can only show up for the party and hang out - that's fine!
Please eat breakfast with us, help clean up and take your time leaving on Sunday.

What does it cost?

Zero dollars - the club covers expenses - but donations are always accepted since we are brand new and don’t have a giant war chest yet. Even if you're not cooking or contributing - please stick around to eat - there's no "they didn't bring any" attitude here - everyone EATS!

Meal details:

The club provides Saturday dinner - feel free to bring an app/side or treat if you like but don't feel the need to make enough to feed an army. Everyone has access to the kitchen which will be stocked with a minimum of a 2 griddle camp chef cook top, multiple Coleman stoves, power burner for hot water, pots, pans, utensils, coffee pots, and cover from the elements. Coordinate with @Comet so you don’t have to duplicate what’s already on-site. Saturday dinner is provided, other meals you're on your own - There is a grocery store and gas station in New Castle and one restaurant just outside of town if needed.

Rules for Dirty Santa:
Wrap ONE gift per participant and place it on or near the table near the fire ring.
We will count the gifts and have that many slips of paper in a hat with numbers on them
Anyone that brought a gift grabs a number out of the hat - this determines who chooses first
Person with the number 1 goes first - they pick any item under the tree and open it
Once they touch an item, they've chosen - no shaking or lifting to determine weight/contents
Everyone else sees what they have received (good or bad)
Person with the next number (number 2) then has to choose:
  1. Do I steal that item that number 1 just opened - or any other items that have been opened?
  2. Do I pick another item from under the tree?
Once an item has been STOLEN 3 times, it cannot be stolen again. The last Dirty Santa thief gets that item
If an item is stolen from you, you cannot steal it back - but you now have a choice:
  1. Do I steal another item that has been opened?
  2. Do I pick another item from under the tree?
This continues until the last participant has had their turn and all prizes are gone.

Rules for the prizes:
  • No value limit - but typically things in the $20-50 range are acceptable
  • Silly/Gag/Dirty gifts are always fun - but ones that people really want are usually more fun (liquor does well / tools/parts/etc)
  • Please only participate if you brought something

Who?

Let us know you're coming - and if you're bringing anyone so we can plan accordingly.
See you there!!

Posting shamelessly stolen and remajargoned from ONSC to reflect our SCLC FIRST ANNUAL Christmas party and camp out.

Two thoughts @JohnVee

This is why I am no longer the secretary.

The second is…..wait, I forgot.
