This only happens when in 1st and taking my foot off the pedal quickly. It seems to be an uneven shift into neutral. It doesn't happen in 2, 3 or 4. I'd love some thoughts as to what I should look at. Something in the transmission? Is it bad or not much to worry about?

This'll be fun to see what's under there. Last time I looked it was so caked with spattered grease. Will report back though.

Things look pretty dry. Is this really the sort of thing that could cause the "clunk" when releasing the accelerator from decent revs at the top of 1st gear? As I said it doesn't happen in any other gear so only when funder high torque I guess.
