hi ,

any help with clues or verified TECH on this unique 2-sensor sub harness section ?

Is the smaller thin tall rubber boot for a knock sensor or a idiot light secondary oil switch

the 79-89 20R / 22R / 22RE folks might know and narrow down this Sub Harness section in the engine bay ....

i currently have both rubber boots reproduced , but the tall thin one has more then a few vintage toyota uses and applications i know and have confirmed are going on ....

however , its 20R / 22R era application is murky ?

thanks for the Technical help here ...

maybe @pappy knows , like all things he usually does :)

this is my re-production in-dash warning light rubber cover boot ....

the same exact
YAZAKI switch boot is used on a FJ60 2F Idle Cut Fuel Solenoid Vacuum switch too , this is why i chose to reproduce it , this little rascal was used all over the TOYOTA circa. era car and trucks vehicles platforms wide range of applications other then simply a 22R oil switch stand alone .,...:)

OilSenderAndSwitch (1)1.jpg

Oil switch did two things: acted as sender for the dash cluster and as a fuel cut off switch as the 79/80 had electric in tank fuel pump.

Oh really ?

i bet @pappy didn't even know that

.

is my TECH image accurate in regards to a 79/80 22R 1st gen. 4wd

and also ....

does this also apply to a SR5 2WD Toyota pickup ?

did they have a 79/80 2wd SR5 at all ?

if the 79/80 4WD was NOT a SR5 , did it also have the double oil switch / oil sender combo set up too ?

or ONLY a big mechanical BELL sender or ONLY a small sissy-spec oil switch by itself ?

my clarify all above stems from the fact below thread link ,

its a popular upgrade to install a cluster meter that has a REAL mechanical guage , hence the need to upgade the sending unit too ?

Ya, I've been following this and having no clue what you folks are talking about. Carry on.

Your RN60LV should have rolled off the PLANT A17 assembly line with one of the 2 rubber oil Sending unit / oil switch insulator cover boots , depending on your Cluster meters oil pressure monitoring style ?

I would not dare , imply you did not have a bling and fly SR5 , with the snappy and iconic SR5 logos infused JDM tweed front fully adjustable Recaro best dam bucket seats TOYOTA ever felt on my back and bottom end !

Cozy and warm in the winter SNOW VERSION driving season too …!🙂

You know mr. Pappy …

Like this here below..

Ahhhhh……. OEM Tweed SR5 ,s simply bliss .

My truck was a DLX with the idiot light. Like just about everybody, I upgraded to the SR5 dash with the oil pressure gauge. I don't remember anything about the oil pressure switch it came with, other than I seem to recall something different with how it hooked up to the pressure sender I had to install to make the gauge work. The switch might have had the 1/4" spade, where the sender has a button.

Current seats are not factory/OEM. But they are heated.

79/80 was a 20R. Along with L43 trans and 4.37 gears. 22R started in 81 with 3.90 gears, changed to 4.11 around mid year because the 3.90s we're cutting it. 79/80, L43 4th gear 1:1 at 3100rpm equaled 55MPH with stock H78/15 tires.

Oil sender to dash light is like bottom pic in post #9. Sender for oil pressure gauge on trans tunnel was the fat round one.

I do not know if there was an SR5 package for 79/80 2wd trucks.

My 80 started life as a 4x4 Deluxe model. Only thing still original is front axle/rear housings and frame. All else is different.

i guess you be now needing this to be in compliance to my strict oem standards ?

this will be good to keep your bell sending unit , from vibration , bad signal to cluster pulse

and

temp . stable

and also cozy as a KOYO Radiator and its consistent constant

Lights, probably not. truck currently has a '85Xcab body on a 80 short bed frame. Cut 11 inches off front of bed to get things to line up and fit. GM 4.3l V6, R150, marlin dual case.

is 85 extra cab body include the front fenders , and front headlamp bucket surrounds ?

Complete sheet metal. I think the grill is all one piece. Stand by, BRB...yeah one piece.

Those corner light do look like they might be the same as mine after I went out to look.

Mine is nowhere near that clean.
