Sunday 2-10-13 afternoon run...

I see the Box Canyon thread for tomorrow, but that's too much time and distance for me. I need to work in the morning, and weather permitting, Claudia and I are thinking about a short trip in the afternoon. One potential route is the 185x loop up from Sycamore, the other is Camp Creek wash starting at Needle Rock, and going onto FR388 aka the 'Cholla Trail'. Either trail won't require lockers unless it'd be slimy due to rain; 388 might incur pinstripes from brush. If anyone is interested, let us know; 185x would mean Ba'ja @ 1pm; 388 would be Needle Rock @ 1pm. If it rains, we'll just do Camp Creek Wash in the Blazer and leave the '40 high and dry where it is now.

I am thinking this might be better for me to attend than the Box Canyon run. I will have my little cousin with me who has never been wheeling before so a shorter run might be better if she doesn't enjoy herself.

best thing to check again tomorrow morning - we'll make a decision by 10am dependent on weather and post the best meeting spot

Yeah, I figured as much... sounds good to me! :D

if you have a particular preference, let us know - we just wanna get out

I don't... I am pretty sure I have not been to either of them, so its all the same to me.

So let's do 185x off Sycamore.
We'll go in at Sugarloaf and take a look at the water in the creek first.

Meet at Ba'ja - Chevron on Beeline - @ 1pm

well, that was fun :steer:

no idea why one would take a Mercedes E350 on the road to lower Sycamore, though

and apparently, Crown Vics are the newest trend in wheeling :hillbilly:

That was a fun ride... :) Left the Chevron shortly after 1pm, aired up around 4:15pm. Stopped a bit at the top of 1856, and at the ridge of 1852 for a few shutter clicks.

Gettin' ready - snow on the mountains - in the drink

Didn't get the shot of the mountains that I wanted; I've been waiting to get a slice of sunlight on the Peaks, but to no avail. And when it finally happened, there was no useable foreground to work with.

You'd think they're after me? - on the descent - more mirror play at the rutted descent. I heard someone had almost too much fun coming down into Ironwood Wash...

Looks like fun, I worked both days this weekend. Sorry I missed you two while you were in town.

Just trying to get away from Mardi Gras madness :). And I needed some desert time after this unwelcome trip to Germany in January. However, I did make good progress on a document the past two days; my deadline is next Monday...

Sounds familiar, I wrote a specification that took me most of the 8 hours I worked today. I would have rather been wheeling!! Sorry to hear about your trip back home.

This was the one trip I didn't want to make... But being out in the desert the past two days was good.

I really like the 185x loop, although it seems to become more popular with the ATV crowd, in particular 1856 up the roller coaster...

Can't you guys that work for TRAL put in a few signs that would re-route the ATV guys off of the good trails? :hillbilly:

water crossings were had without any snorkels . . .

:meh:
