After a check engine light on a recent outing, I'm ready to get a ScanGauge II to read and reset codes, but I'm also interested in the gauge functions it provides. From the ads, it looks like the features vary according to year, make, and model of the vehicle it is installed in.

Can anyone comment on the features that will work on a OBD-II-equipped FZJ80--like coolant temp, oil pressure, MPG functions, and speedometer (to include adjustment for oversize tires), etc?

Thanks.

Ill be interested in finding out what you think after you get one. I debated back and forth on getting one.
I ended up purchasing an innova 3100e. I wish I could take it back because I want to read data in real time, not just just freeze frame data.

I was interested in the Scan Guage for my 95' Land Cruiser but lost interest after having e-mailed them several times with questions and getting NO feedback. If that's all the better their customer service is in this economy they let them collect dust on their shelves!!

I have a scan gauge and love it. i originally bought it to monitor my coolant temps after i overheated once. i've since then overhauled my whole cooling system. i currently have it set to monitor the following 4 metrics (it will display 4 items at a time): MPG, MPH to compensate for larger tires, coolant temp and intake air temp. i've also used to monitor engine load. it's also great for clearing codes. i must say it's great security to know i'm not overheating b/c i don't trust the dead range on the factory temp gauge.

x2 love mine

x3.:D Got one in each 80 and I monitor the coolant temp like a hawk.:) Even got the :princess: trained to keep an eye on it as well.:p:D

i want one, post pics of your install.

I've had mine about 3 years and absolutely love it. I have it set on water temp, MPG, Voltage, and Air Intake temp on the settings. I have checked and reset engine codes while on trips driving down the road which is nice when you are in the middle of nowhere and want to know what is going on with the beast.

There are a lot of threads on the Scanguage already explaining installs and functionality, just search for scan, scan tool, OBDII etc.

Here is a thread with the popular install locations. I have mine on the steeing column.

i also love my scanguage. i keep it on mpg, water, mph and alternate on the last function. it's been great to be able to see what my codes are. i did have the backlightling go out, contacted them and they told me a couple things to try which didn't work so i sent it to them, they fixed it and sent it back promptly.

I love mine. Extra insurance on cooling temps. Also nice that it fits perfectly where the ash tray sat.

plus you can make it match your oem lights

I installed mine on the steering column so I don't have to look to far from my gauges. Ran cord inside dash only notice couple inches of it coming out.

X-whatever, can't imagine driving without it now. Just extra insurance and peace of mind if you are as AR as me and alot of other people here.

Mine's off in the intersection of A-pillar and top of dash/windshield.

I monitor coolant temp, air intake temp, alternator output and gallons/hour (just to depress myself, and force a slightly less lead-footed driving style).

The alternator output hovers in the 14.2-14.5 range, so I know my contacts are still working as they should, no need to replace until necessary.

Interesting to see how the underhood temp/idle/stop-n-go-traffic impacts the intake air temps.

And of course, we're all watching coolant temps. Heat soak is interesting, coming out on a warm day having shut down for 15-30 minutes, the coolant temp is up to ~200*, but then bumps down to 193* after a few (1-3) minutes of circulation, then the usual 188-190* range.

All said, a nice unit that provides a TON of peace of mind. I watch closely, and it tells me all I need to know.

Now if only I could get the ATF Temp outta that thing, I'd stop crying at the 5-6-7 gph I'm blowing through on the highway! :hmm:

NICE......
