I am currently doing a ground up on my 74 40. Nothing really special. I rebuilt both axled, 4speed trans and transfer. Motor I decided to leave alone since before I tore into it it did not smoke and ran really well. Undecided if I am going to keep the stock carb and distributer. Body was pretty rusted out. So I went with an aluminum tub. What a nice product. Anyway. I have seen and read some threads about the transfer case saver. Is this something I should invest in? What does it do exactly? Anyhelp or thought would be great. Thanks, Dan.

If I read your post correctly and you put in a 4-speed T case I do not think you need it, but lets see what others say. If you are still running a 3 speed buy the saver it is cheap insurance against splitting a case.

Already had the 4 speed in it.

worth the $$$ I bought mine from Poser... see my build thread for my 74 when i went to Poser's shop and we went threw my trans and transfer... we installed it then...

I've got Poser's too. For the money it's cheap insurance.

I've been running a 350 Th400 and a NP203 in front of a 74 box with 37s for 2 years and no transfer case problems.

I don't know that the saver has had anything to do with my lack of problems, but then again for the money and ease of installation ...

It certainly has been way cheaper than buying another NP203 adapter to mount a split case.

not sure who's this is.... should do the job

saver

YES get one from Poser, we were at Pismo surf an turf a couple of years ago and watched a guy in a built 45 explode his transfer case on the beach. for the money its worth the peace of mind. and it is an easy bolt on fix

Alright I guess I am convinced on the t-case saver. Thanks for the info and recommendations all. Everyone seems to agree on the same thing and Poser apparently is the man!! I will have to purchase a star and put pics up of my buildup.

Here's a pic of Poser's case saver on 2badfjs transfer case.

that second saver was built by John Pardi as I recall. (or Warden) Between the two of the adapters, you would have a very safe tcase..

Belt AND suspenders;)

Yep, that's the Pardi Plate Stiffener. I run one on my '73 40 & '72 55. It seems to be the *best way to support both gearsets in the case, IMO. I used the the AA crossmember mount in both setups. John recommends to cut off the cone. I didn't do it on my 40, but did on the 55. First pic is my 40:

Are the Pardi Plate Stiffeners still being sold new or would you have to find a used one? I did a quick Google search but couldn't find anything.

I'm sure John's still selling them new. I have his email addy at work. I'll PM it to you Monday. No directions included in the kit but it's pretty straightforward....

Yeah I think I am sold on the t-case saver. Thanks all for the info. Dan.
