Putting my 60 on the market. As much as I love this truck I am ready to start on a new diesel project.

1987 FJ60 Oregon truck its entire life and no rust
1989 Isuzu 4 Cyl turbo diesel with approx 200k
H55F 5speed new from Toyota El Cajon 25K
SOA ruff stuff
Nitro 4.88's front and rear ARB's
37 12.50 15 Irok radials X5
matching wheels

I am being very vague in my posting as I am hesitant to sell but am also curious as to if there would be any real interest in the beast.

Some things I have spared no expense, some things I have done to just get by. I built this truck for me only to my standards. It travels at 65 down the highway no problems a the while getting 20 mpg.

Here is my build thread: https://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wagons/274454-dirtgypsy-goes-soa.html

Asking $15k obo

pm me for my phone # for questions or post up any?

Hi Josh, I doubt the truck is going anywhere!
Damn, Clint that's badass!

thank you sir.

what a beast! awesome damn rig man.

thank you!

what shape is the body in rust wise?
any other pics? underneath/etc
any compression numbers recently? smoke on startup etc.

no rust unless you consider surface rust an issue. I can get specific pics of anything but there should be some in the build up thread.

no compression numbers. the engine ran and drove really well when I bought it. I went a head an redid the head gasket and re-gasketed the entire motor anyways as I hate oil leaks. Along with that I also had the injectors rebuilt. about $1000 in parts alone for just those two items.

it smokes a bit on start up and has a very small amount of blow by. I am not running a block heater and it has been 35 degrees outside so I suspect that this is due to moisture in the fuel and the cool temps. it definately doesnt burn oil if that is what you are after and doesnt do it when it is warm outside. the glow system seems to help with the smoke but as soon as the truck warms up after a minute or two it really isnt an issue.

Wow... Dude..... Hope it wont sell, GL anyways..
what a deal if it sells.
That engine rocks..

Interested for sure. Please Pm your number. PS I have a locked 80.

Holy cow! I can't believe that this rig is for sale.

This is one bada$$ truck with all the work documented here on mud. I don't think you could come close to building the same truck for less than 20k if you paid yourself .50 cents an hour for all the labor it takes to pull off one of these conversions and all the other work that has been done.

I know, I built essentially the same truck and turned down an offer of $12.5k for it a couple of weeks ago.

Whoever gets this truck is going to get a smokin' deal on this one!

thanks for the kind words Don. I appreciate it. I am sure it wouldn't take long for me to be able to document 20k in parts.

Any idea on how the Isuzu compares to a 4BT? Nice truck!

It what way? Stock the power is on par, idles smoother, gets the same mileage. Is just a more refined engine overall. Not buttery smooth like modern diesel or 6 cyl yota but way smoother and smoother power band than the 4BT. But on the flip side 4BT's are monsters when it comes to torque and ability to take power. Just my 2 cents but after having ridden in a 4BT and mine I would never put one of those engines in a truck.

Again thanks for the kind words I appreciate it. This thing sitting up for sale is causing some sleepless nights already..

Man I love this truck! I followed along your build even before I got a LC. I got a locked 80 series when I could not find a decent diesel 60. Shoot me a pM with what you are looking for with a traded 80.

I would pay more than 15K for that :)

I remember seeing photos of that thing SUA and 2F'd. It was a sweet 60 then.

GLWS. Although I hope it stays put!

Reliability, power, mileage, noise. I think you covered the bases. I'll pm you some more questions I have so I don't clutter up your ad :). Sweet truck!

Man, if I wasnt in England for another year I would be all over this. Fantastic truck. GLWS.

road trip.

I have had a few emails and some good conversations over the phone about a few items. I am going to start listing things that bug me about the truck and what I am after in an 80.

Basically I am after a great condition 80. Mods are ok but everyone has their own ideas on what suits their needs and I have a pretty good idea on what I want to build. So clean, straight, shiny paint, no rust and lockers. Color is not as important as condition. Obviously engine condition is not really a concern! That and some cool hard cash to make up the difference in price. I am figuring on a nice 80 to run between $3500 and $8500 being able to hit my wants needs.

Now the list of bads:

needs paint: not rusty bad but no clear coat bad
needs windsheild: big crack across bottom
Steering gearbox (rebuilt by west texas off road) is weaping at spud shaft. Not a lot to be adding fluid but enough to bug me.
rear window defrost: only has half the grid working
windows: are a pain in the ass to roll down in winter, fine in summer
no air: I have all the parts with exception of idler pully and custom lines. figure about 3-4 days work and $400 in parts
Dents: its a truck thats been on the trail. worse is gutter just above passenger window is creased. badge of honor from the Rubicon. No damage to seam or seal and leaks no water= no fix from me.
block heater: needs one. glow plugs work fine but I am a firm believer that diesels need block heaters.
filters: I really need to add another set of filters. Oregon is wet and damp all year around and this truck would benifit from another set.
