SO, I've been debating for a while and here it is.

SOLD!

1987 FJ60, 300k on the vehicle.
5.7 Vortec V8 from a wrecked 1999 Tahoe (32k at install, nearly 50k miles as of today)

The Vortec swap IS CALIFORNIA LEGAL!!!! NO, I repeat, NO issues registering/getting a smog check.

H-55 (factory new unit installed winter 2005)
Rebuilt T-Case during H-55 install
OME/Dakkar lift
Optima red top
IPF H-4 conversions with IPF harness
Tuffy Console
Volvo seats from 2002 S-60
BFG 33" AT-KO tires (50% left) on stock powder coated wheels (black)
Kaymar rear bumper
SROR Sliders with my outside tubes
Front bumper with winch/recovery points by me.
Damplifier sound deadening throughout interior
Tint
Kenwood head unit with IPOD interface (controlled through head unit, IPOD stays locked in Tuffy Console)
Pioneer 6 1/2" speakers in front doors as well as cargo area
Sony 10" sub in cargo area.
Yakima racks
FJ62 passenger grab bar (the one over the glove box)
4-Runner Calipers
K&N air filter
Tie rod ends replaced about three years ago (late 2005, IIRC)

Knuckles rebuilt this past winter
Oil changes regularly (conventional 10W30)
Mobil one in T-case
Mobil one in Transmission
Royal purple in differentials

I'm sure there's lots of other stuff I'm forgetting, but that's the basics.

As to the bad stuff:

A/C compressor took a dump a couple of weeks ago and the fan/blower crapped out a couple of days ago :(
I may or may not have those issues fixed before selling.

Paint is faded/oxidized
There are some dents
There is some surface rust inside the driver's side A-pillar
There is no headliner, but the roof has been covered with Damplifier
Carpet in not trashed, but it ain't clean either
Windshield has chips that have been professionally repaired (came with the cruiser when I bought it several years ago)

Yes, it has been offroad. I've been accused of driving it in Baja like I was Parnelli Jones :D

I'm asking $5500.00 CASH as it sits right now.

I consider this to be a VERY fair price considering the time/effort/money I've put into it. Just the Vortec Swap cost way over that amount.

Vehicle is located in SoCal (I live in Van Nuys and work in Culver City). I drive it every day, and that is what is leading me to sell it. I need a better suited vehicle for commuting. When time/money permits, then I'll have another one to build :D

Please no trades and no low-ballers. I have not listed this ANYWHERE else, MUD only so please be respectful.

Nice truck and a good guy.

Good luck well worth the $$$$.

Thanks :)

If anyone needs any specific pics, let me know.

Sad to see it go! You can not do a conversion and upgrades for any less than he is asking. I have driven this truck and it is worth every penny of $5,500.

Bump from the South!
Good luck with the sale , like others have said a steal for the $$$$

I have
that amount of $ in my 60 and have neither a Vortec or an h-55

Thanks for the kind words guys :)

I wish you had posted this 3 weeks ago when my 2F rebuild started. :D Bump!

that's a smokin deal on a vortec powered cruiser..........

I wish you had posted this 3 weeks ago when my 2F rebuild started. :D Bump!

I have impeccable timing. Enjoy the new 2F. Manuchao did a rebuild on his 2F, then went Vortec about a year later, so you never know :)

Thanks for the good words Georg!

i finished a vortec swap on a customer's 60 a short time ago. same color, same engine. too funny. but we went with an NV4500 and orion HD combo in his.

one thing i can tell you is that he had way more than $5500 in parts alone.........

also just got a look thru your build-up thread. nice work! i did'nt remove the front sheet metal when i did the swap but i can see how you'd have much better access. i sued ramhorns as well, way better clearance that way. also went with the downey VSS; great setup.

good luck with the sale, somebody's gonna get bitchin "sleeper 60" for a great price.

I was checking out that link in your sig and I have to say, your thesis project is SICK!!!

OrangeFJ45 - yeah, I spent 6500 just on the swap doing all but the exhaust myself...

Sloan - thanks, it's actually at a guy's house in Palos Verdes now. Took three days just to move the damn thing!

Just sold me early bronco yesterday and am looking for a cruiser. I'd buy yours in a second but I'm in Souther Idaho. How road worthy do you consider you cruiser? know anyone who would want to ferry up to Idaho?

I drove it to Montana (before the Vortec) a couple years ago. I wouldn't hesitate to jump in and go anywhere.

I got your PM and I'll send you pics as requested :)

What type of Bronco was it? I've always been a fan of the 65-77.

66-77 bronco's....it was a 1970. Very little rust. But time to move on and back to a cruiser. Just wish I lived closer. Don't know how the hell I would be able to come and get yours.

Blazinid,

Just fly into LAX and drive it to ID. You will kick yourself if you miss this deal. I watched him do the conversion and have driven this truck. I would do the drive to ID in that truck and not have a moments worry.

Interior pics as requested. :)

Let me know if there's anything else.
