the screws are so small and the wrench so tiny it is impossible to get the screws out.

We never used a Philips head - we know better. We likely used an Allen wrench that was too large (I could not find the one that came with the key) and that probably did it. I just ordered the proper size off Amazon this week, but as you note, it is not working. I LOVE the key and would love a new shell. How should I get in touch?

Email is best. Shoot me a message and we'll get you squared away. Happy Memorial Day!

You should do a red, white, blue combo! I think might sell well.
It has been done!

Before too long I'll need to start introducing new colors just so every 100 in your fleet can be identified!

I have 5 in use here, a few in reserve, and a few deployed with family. Maybe we could found “YotaMD Anonymous”?

Just kidding about the monthly subscription. I’m just glad I caught the buy two get two free promotion. You should do that more often. Awesome!!
😎

Overdue update!

Moving towards more of this style kit. Cerakote titanium and black shells. The black is superbly durable and looks great even when abused. The Cerakote being on the titanium should last much longer before notable wear occurs.

All orders also now ship with a nice Wera driver like this:

And in another two weeks or so, all orders will [hopefully] start shipping in packaging like this!

Aww and I've just bought another lol. But we'll done, they are good bits of kit

@suprarx7nut
If I select black with raw titanium, it says unavailable, but if I select either of those options with a different second option it works.

I would order a black with raw titanium if I can!

Great product, nice instructions, and fast shipping!

Two questions:
  1. The remote is a bit loose in the fob and rattles a bit when the key is shaken. I think my keyfobs are aftermarket, so that could be the reason. I was thinking I'd put a piece of foam or something in the fob to soak up that rattle - is there a better solution?
  2. The key blade (mine's the "i" style) rocks a little bit in the shell (parallel with the flat of the blade). Shouldn't affect function, but it's a little annoying. As someone with a good bit of experience stripping things, I'm afraid if I tighten the screw any more it'll strip out the key blade. Is this just an inherent limitation of the "i" style blade since it doesn't have the wings to hold it steady?

Thanks!

1. My preferred approach is just a slip of paper or business card.
2. Similarly, my preferred approach is a slip of paper or business card between the remote and the shim. Generally, if you can get the shim to remote fitment tight, the blade wiggle is greatly reduced.

Did you get the new Wera driver? That should make stripping the screw unlikely. If the screw is binding up on the key blade, check to see if you can *burn* out any contaminants (often plastic from injection molding the original key case). A little plastic in those threads can make that nearly impossible to thread in.

Also keep in mind, these were sold for like... 5 years and thousands of units with no shims at all. That center screw alone, when properly tight, will keep the blade pretty firmly in place.

Let me know how it goes!
