I'm referring to a gap between the key blade and housing. I'm not too worried about it since it's still strong.

Install the extra little plate (the one that you'd put the 2 pins in if you had the "i" style blade). I did that and the gap is gone.

That fixed my issue. Thanks for the tip.

Here's a pic of the purple color shell with other colors. Under certain lights, it looks more magenta, but under different light it looks dark purple. This picture is probably more magenta than real life, but it gives you an idea. I'll get better pics with the DSLR later and get them posted to the site.

Release the white one soon so I can add to my orange one :)

Mine worked great. Really good execution on these.
I'm the one who got purple

White is looking great on my tester. My wife keeps suggesting I put it on my dog's collar to really give it a durability test, haha. I'll likely release white in a month or so. I want to get this new rev figured out to address the clear fronted remotes with the gap before I order another large batch of plastics.

Nice! Glad you weren't one of the ~2% with a weird key or remote! Thanks for your support!

I received my clear fronted remote tester and it is indeed thicker - though not by much. I've made a design change and have a set of RUSH plastics on their way to test fitment. I'll send one out to a customer to verify fitment on their end as well. Assuming that solves it, we'll be all set regarding the clear face remote gap debacle.

The remotes look much different in their internal arrangement. The newer, clear front-faced ones have a larger battery and a removable transponder. I suspect they've got slightly better range. I wonder if they're backwards compatible.

@suprarx7nut - is it possible to order without the glossy clear coat? I'm considering one of these remotes and really like the matte finish of the black but I'm not as keen on the glossy look. However, if it really compromises durability, I understand why you're going in that direction!

Absolutely. The black ones are left matte, but all colors are clear-coated by default to keep the color longer. It also deepens the color and makes them more vibrant.

If you want a color without clear, that's totally fine and I'm happy to accommodate. It will save me some labor. I will actually be implementing a small price increase on colors to cover the clear coating labor soon. Send me a PM if you want to order and I can send you an invoice with a special call-out for the matte finish. Be warned though... it will show dirt readily!

This mod was not on my short list, but I took my car in to get the tires rotated and the Tire Gorilla handed my (previously fine) key back to me in 2 pieces.

Just ordered an orange shell.

Anyone know where I can buy the internals for this? I have a spare metal part, but no remote with it.

You can get them from the dealer for somewhere between $150 and $250, or scour ebay and find listings there for a used key. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a beat up used one for ~$50 on ebay. They are reliable internals.

I would avoid at all costs, buying a cheap knock off. If the PANIC button is red or looks off, don't buy it. Stick to OEM, even if the cost is 10x higher.

There was a guy selling 5 newer versions of the internals on an ebay listing this week, but he wouldn't sell individually and I'm not sure if they're backwards compatible.

What about two-button keys - the standard on this side of the great puddle. Would you have enough takers to justify a small production?
Alternatively I could just fill in the Panic hole with Sugru or similar. I think the measurements are the same, so the remote would fit OK.

@suprarx7nut - I ordered one this week. Is the wait still two weeks?

Roughly, yes, but by the end of this week I should be 100% caught up on shipments. I've finally got my bulk orders of hardware in and I've managed to stay ahead on plastics and titanium. Someone ordering today would probably have a 4-5 day lead time.

Interesting! I could fill that in and offer that 2 button version. I'd like to see at least 3-5 interested orders before having them made. Round up a few folks and I'll make one!

You could use it as is, but the blank hole would look funny.

You KNOW you live in a "safe" area when your key doesn't have a "PANIC" button :)

Amazon.
The key with internals is $25. It's what I'm using inside my key and works flawlessly. The remote works from a further distance than my oem key as well. Even with a new battery in oem key remote.
