Registration in Ga. -
Everyone loves the DMV !!
PRE DMV - I took the time to read the Ga DMV web site to try and verify I had everything I needed. Of course there is not a lot of information on it. Other then that Ga has decided to start doing a registration tax on all autos... @ 6.5% for the first year only to go up each year after !
DAY 1.
Got to the DMV early so I would not have to wait that long, (yea right).. They call my number and lucky me out of 12 people I get the one that is in training... "OK , yea I have this truck you never heard of before and its not in your system and I bought it in Spain and shipped it here...."

response: "let me get my manager".
manager: "sooo your truck is from Spain , uh?"

manager: "Do you have a vin check completed form ?"
me: "I do not , did not know I would need one, I have all the import papers, fed, EPA"
manager - begins printing out forms....

manager: "You will need to fill these forms out and have a police offer sign and approve the VIN check. Then you have to have the registration translated
and fill out this form (cant be you or anyone related) and have it notarized"
manager: "come back and see us , ya here"
me: Ok, would be nice to have that on the web site some where.
Of course as I am looking at the forms all they have on the translation form is make , model and vin which is all in English on the paper work. So I call the non emergency police to come and check the vin and sign the form. The officer actually shows up at my home pretty quick, then looks the form over, I give him the story ... he goes to run the vin and quickly says .. I cant sign the form , you will need to go to the head quarters and have them do it.
So I call the head quarters and verify they will be able to perform this check and they are only 30 mins away. I asked the officer on the phone will I get into trouble if I am pulled over with no tag ? She said "there is no sure thing, you could have it towed in" ... pause....
So I drive the truck down to the head quarters, everything went fine and the officers who did the checking were great and really excited for me. Turns out they are 4x4 nuts so everything took a while but went smooth.... international vin search and local search and interview me.
DAY 5.
I finally get around to figuring out this next form and trying to get it translated and signed. I talked with Chris at jdmlandcruisers.com to make sure I had the correct papers and if he had similar experiences. I cant thank Chris enough for helping with all this..

. So I get a lucky break and someone at my wife's office is a legal person who is Spanish and can do the translation and her co-working can do the notarization. bingo.
DAY 7.
Round 2 at the DMV....
So this time I get some who was not in training and I start out ..... he says let me get my manager...and low and behold the manager on the floor that day was from Mexico and familiar with all the paper work and information. At that point it was smooth sailing. I am now registered and will be given a title in GA. !!!
