You probably noticed, but the shackles are upside down and also need to be flipped around so that the angled part is facing inwards.
Now back to making eyes at that stripe lol.

Thanks on the shackles , I had not even noticed that yet ..

Simply Awesome!! Good score!! ........ So is that an ARB front bumper that has had the upper gaurd removed? Are the seats leather or vinyl? does it have the suspension seats? What is the diff gear ratio? Whats the mileage? I am assuming its in Kilometers?

Yes It is a front ARB with the upper part cut off. I think the owner said he had too because it was not allowed in Spain

The seats seem like a nice vinyl, and are not suspension seats. Those would be really cool..

I am not sure what the diff gear ratio is , however I think the tires are larger then stock and on 16 inch rims with a front spacer. Rear is an LSD.

She has about 150,000 miles on her when converted from Kilos. Funny that would be less then my 1999 100s.

Not sure on the shackles , i could ask the prior owner. I have looked on line and no one has them on there like that..? I did find out that I already have a 24v to 12v step down some where so I can now replace the missing radio with a 12v one.

It's a shame the 70 Series are scattered all over the state.....
Makes it difficult to do a group photo. :D

nice truck! i like the decals with the square shape of the 70's

grats, Steve! Dang thing looks finished to me, awesome color too!

Yes. The front shackles are installed backwards and upside down. The pictures of the rear did not clearly show how they are installed, but their operation is the same as the front and should be installed accordingly. Easy to correct.

Any chance you could ask the previous owner where he bought the seat covers from?

He said that he took them to a leather shop and " restored on a leathershop both sides... The middle part is original "

Wow these seats are so nice looking !!

I am still sizing these two up..

Registration in Ga. -

Everyone loves the DMV !!

PRE DMV - I took the time to read the Ga DMV web site to try and verify I had everything I needed. Of course there is not a lot of information on it. Other then that Ga has decided to start doing a registration tax on all autos... @ 6.5% for the first year only to go up each year after !

DAY 1.

Got to the DMV early so I would not have to wait that long, (yea right).. They call my number and lucky me out of 12 people I get the one that is in training... "OK , yea I have this truck you never heard of before and its not in your system and I bought it in Spain and shipped it here...."
response: "let me get my manager".

manager: "sooo your truck is from Spain , uh?"
manager: "Do you have a vin check completed form ?"
me: "I do not , did not know I would need one, I have all the import papers, fed, EPA"
manager - begins printing out forms.... :crybaby:
manager: "You will need to fill these forms out and have a police offer sign and approve the VIN check. Then you have to have the registration translated
and fill out this form (cant be you or anyone related) and have it notarized"
manager: "come back and see us , ya here"
me: Ok, would be nice to have that on the web site some where.

Of course as I am looking at the forms all they have on the translation form is make , model and vin which is all in English on the paper work. So I call the non emergency police to come and check the vin and sign the form. The officer actually shows up at my home pretty quick, then looks the form over, I give him the story ... he goes to run the vin and quickly says .. I cant sign the form , you will need to go to the head quarters and have them do it. :bang:

So I call the head quarters and verify they will be able to perform this check and they are only 30 mins away. I asked the officer on the phone will I get into trouble if I am pulled over with no tag ? She said "there is no sure thing, you could have it towed in" ... pause....

So I drive the truck down to the head quarters, everything went fine and the officers who did the checking were great and really excited for me. Turns out they are 4x4 nuts so everything took a while but went smooth.... international vin search and local search and interview me.

DAY 5.

I finally get around to figuring out this next form and trying to get it translated and signed. I talked with Chris at jdmlandcruisers.com to make sure I had the correct papers and if he had similar experiences. I cant thank Chris enough for helping with all this... So I get a lucky break and someone at my wife's office is a legal person who is Spanish and can do the translation and her co-working can do the notarization. bingo. :grinpimp:

DAY 7.

Round 2 at the DMV....

So this time I get some who was not in training and I start out ..... he says let me get my manager...and low and behold the manager on the floor that day was from Mexico and familiar with all the paper work and information. At that point it was smooth sailing. I am now registered and will be given a title in GA. !!! :bounce::steer:

Everything you described took 10 minutes at my local tag office in Southern Georgia
and local law enforcement came out to my house and signed the VIN document within 20 minutes of me calling them.
Perhaps you should move to South Georgia. :D

Awesome Steve I'm sure you and the family will enjoy this. I am very jealous.

Congrats on the registration! I do love DMV stories. Are you bringing that red beast to GSMTR?

I am not sure yet if Rojo will make the run to GSMTR or the 100s. I was planning on the 100 so I could sleep inside and take my frig. I have to admit it is a nice problem to have...

Had my first full family ride tonight around the neighborhood, wife and 2 kids. The wife said she liked the ride and that it was way smoother then the 1979 BJ40 I had. I even turned on the AC and it worked pretty well. I did however find out that I am missing two rear seat belt buckles so now I am looking for those.

I will be daily driving it starting tomorrow...
